What is that bright light in the sky?
It's been there for a few weeks now I think, but I've really noticed it the last week, south-west every late evening. I'm in Europe.

If it's a star, why is it so huge suddenly? Is it a planet? I can't see anything on the SOHO/LASCO images.

Are you sure? Is there a satellite or something we can view it from?

Good question. Is there anyone else who can verify this sighting?

So is it Venus or not? I can't find a satellite to view it clearly from. Someone help? Is Astromutt here tonight?

Try downloading Stellarium. Venus, Sirius, and Betelgeuse are all in the Western Sky on the evening right now. Bright light show.

Venus is my guess.
The sun reflects off it making it star-bright.
