That’s not necessarily the case. I’ve taken 3k out of about 5 gas station atms the same day during bitcoin booms. It’s ok to empty the atm, if the bills inside are insufficient the transaction will be reversed.

At my bank, all the tellers are on video screens at a row of oversized ATMs. They work at some office somewhere and service all the branches. I don't know how you could rob them. The tellers can not simply dispense money at their own discretion, it has to come from some account, and you have to enter the right number .. and then the machine can dispense your withdrawal.

Aren't all banks like this?

I am just relaying what I was told by the teller today when I tried to take out a large sum.

Yes he was behind a plastic wall.

He said that shipments of cash to the branch had been reduced and that people could only withdraw up to 500. This was not the case last week when I took out a considerable sum.

The reason he gave for the shipments being reduced was that they were afraid of robberies. I asked him about bank runs and he said yes there had been bank runs.

This Bank of America branch was inside a grocery store outside of Los Angeles.

I've withdrawn $5,000 3 times since last week. The only hiccup was wednesday when the teller asked if I could accept a cashier's check and if not all she had was 20s!

My father went to his bank yesterday to cash a fairly large check and they gave him 20s, 10, 5s, and even 1s!!!! I kid you not.

Stop buying everything non-essential, like I did years ago. No alcohol, coke, pot, candy, junk food, prepared frozen meals (try cooking from scratch). Suddenly you've got money to buy the base food stuffs (flour, lard, baking powder, etc.) to make things.

What will really suck is when they declare cash to be a carrier of COVID. Not that it really is, they are trying to kill off buying stuff anonymously.

It's also about being able to extract a fee for every purchase. Cash changes hands without a fee to the banks. Also, no taxes when sellers don't report the sale to the IRS.
