paper state maps, forest service maps, county maps

and a compass...

In MN we have "park systems" (like the 3 rivers park system)...several parks connected by hiking trails thru the woods & around lakes.

Years ago I would stop at various parks & grab maps of the trail systems...I keep all those maps in my truck.

They even have port-O-potties along the trails

The young people got their phones. They will be fine. :)

Hell, most of 'em can't even tell you where North-South-East-West is hardly.

And yep, I love driving back roads. Beats cussin' on the interstate.
