It's smart and will most likely save many hundreds of thousands of lives around both Australia and NZ. However, be prepared for the powers that be in both countries to go full retard if anyone disobeys. People WILL disobey and our rulers WILL go full retard. Millennials, the Chinese community, arab community, african communities - particularly in Victoria will scoff at all this and just do what they want, then they'll spread the bug, create mini-outbreaks around the place and end up beat down for it by a brutal, overreacting law enforcement response. We haven't seen anything like the totalitarian government we're about to experience since the days of the Second World War. Let's hope our rulers are smart enough to relinquish their powers to pre-pandemic levels when the situation eases. I'm thinking they won't. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78626466 All countries going into lockdown and forced inside around the same timeframe regardless of virus spread levels. [link to www.stuff.co.nz (secure)] [link to www.stuff.co.nz (secure)] Could it be some other global event they are preparing for... seems more and more likely. I have been told by someone high up at St Johns that they met with Winston Peters last week. We will be at alert level 3/4 by end of the week. Also was told ... when they say 66 cases they mean 660. They have a code they use for public which is 1 - 10. They are lying outright as people are in ICU for this virus. |

It's gonna happen!! Not quite sure how the NZ government is going to "enforce" an Alert Level "4" Lockdown when the supermarkets and pharmacies etc will remain open.....guess we are about to find out. Further details to be released by tomorrow morning... It hit quickly here. Keep in mind we are entering spring so many schools were already on spring break or getting ready. The system I work for was last week. A week ago last Thursday we abruptly found out break is extended into next week. As of Wednesday last week it has now been extended until April 10 I think. By the end of this past week (7 days in) most retail and all bars closed. Restaurants are delivery or take out only and churches, big and small are closed for at least the next 2 weeks. Grocery, gas stations, liquor stores and pharmacies still open as is Walmart and lowes and Home Depot ( big box home improvement stores) It happened so quickly, everyone is still trying to process it all. |

Im totally confused as to what ' non essential services even mean'- one list says just supermarkets pharmacists banks petrol stations and ' convenience' stores' but the PM stated it was more pubs clubs cafes casinos sporting and enetertainment venues- but that hairdressers didnt have to close... what category does hydraulic engineering fall into? if hairderssing is ok.. |

I know it is confusing. Hairdressers are still open here too lol. but things are changing so quickly. As far as industry that has skills or equipment that can be used during a "wartime " situation, won't surprise me if they are used even temporarily by the military |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73895319 United States 03/22/2020 07:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Stay in prayer and if you can, watch church online. I'm thankful that my church and even small churches can stream online and thru Facebook. I try to keep in mind we, the world, are all in the same boat right now. Use common sense when out. Wash hands when returning form the store or work and throughout the day if you go anywhere or are around others. Keep your kitchen, bathroom and yourself clean. Try to avoid crowds when possible. I will say, most people have been distancing themselves when at the store. |
