The way it looks now, after 15 or 21 day in quarantine, we all will go back to work with prescription of HCQ in preventative doses or having CV-19 treated as needed. Then vaccine in a year or two, while bringing production of essential items back to the USA. China can concentrate on making plastic sand shovels and my little pony toys.

Today is Day 7. Do you think on March 30th, your President is going to tell you that you have succeeded in slowing the spread of Covid19 and you can all come out of hiding?

In the briefings from Trudeau that I have listened to, it seems like the "social distancing" will go on for at least several more weeks here in Canada. It sounds like this will go through at least May.

There will likely be nearly 150K + infections in the USA by then. 10,000 new cases were reported just today and barely anyone is even getting tested because you can walk around infecting everyone for 14 days without symptoms and 44% of people who are infected never come down with a fever yet the only way they will currently give you a test is if you have a fever.

Thanks to everyone who voted.

well, by then they will have likely succeeded in triggering their unrecoverable economic meltdown, so stricter measures will be need to be taken. That just seems to me where this is headed.

My fear of the personal financial fallout is affecting me more severely than the fear of the Covid. The governor announced this afternoon the closure of non-essential "retail" businesses. I did a quick read over and thought it said all non-essential businesses and therefore I could not work.
I feel like I am quaking with a low-level of anxiety from not being able to be fully employed and pay my basic bills.

Every new update seems to extend the finish line further and further out.

Maybe there should be a global vote.
Every Global Citizen Votes.
Turn the machines back on and life goes back to normal.

But it comes with a price -

We allow 3.5 billion souls to get sick (50% of population) and send 105 million to die and perish. (3%)

Current population:
7 billion

I used 50% the Avg.
3.5 billion souls.
**Some will be asymptomatic  and will never get sick - they will just shed the virus to 50 others, etc etc.

3% is 105 million souls.

3% acceptable fatalities
Yea or Nay?

Its realistic numbers over a few years. The trick is - who gets a doctor and oxygen and who does not.

Thats why they are pushing the "lower the curve" campaign. There is no way to treat 2 million cases in a month. Thats when the 30 year old gets chosen over the 50 year old.

Choose wisely.

The recovered can go work. But since we can’t test, we only know of the 30,000 who have had it, but not the 300,000 who have had it, are immune, and can start working right now. Instead, everyone is hog-tied.

I should have put that as one of the options. Day 15= vaccine.

14 days is the upper end of the incubation period, so 15 days of isolation will hopefully have weeded out most cases while slowing new infections.

I keep hearing 6 months for lockdowns though.... Hopefully it won't be that long.

Here in Delaware the governor has put the state en a stay-at-home order and non-essential businesses to be closed until May 15th. So we are in it for at least six weeks not 15 days. And the governor said maybe less, maybe more.

Yeah I know, it's really a very crap situation. One good thing is that countries like Australia and America supply a lot of food for the rest of the world, hopefully we'll still have plenty of food.

Our nations have recovered from wars and plagues before, we can do it again, we just need to be smart and grit our teeth.

Governors will need to call off schools until the end of the year, for one thing. No way is anybody actually going back to work with kids in the middle of an epidemic just to catch the virus. They will never get subs to come in because subs are smart enough not to risk their lives for the $70 a day they get (plus many subs are older and retired teachers).

People aren't self isolating and practicing social distancing.

Incubation time is up to three weeks.

14 days won't cut it.

Figure in the fact that we're just now really starting to test with the incubation period and the transmission rate. It will be an additional couple of weeks.
 Quoting: Deplorable Mary

Boris Johnson has said over here that they will start getting tough with the country if they don't start 'social distancing'. How the fuck can we do that when we're still having to mingle at work, but office staff can take the time off? There are more people on the work floor than in poxy offices. They should just tell nobody but essential workers to stay at home!

China that allowed it to get out of control has already claimed that there are no more new cases. If they are being truthful, considering how bad it was there, it was short lived.

The US has acted profoundly well and quickly. Trump has handled this and communicated in a way that is calm and informative - in spite of the msm fear mongering. Most people are voluntarily self isolating as much as possible. Even local news people are doing their segments from home.
The economic stimulus will ease things for most people, along with unemployment benefits. Their expenses will be reduced because they aren't paying commuting and child care costs. Schools are using virtual classrooms to continue education.

I expect 6 weeks to 2 months before the last known case here.

Re: What Happens After the 15 Days of "Slow the Spread"?
Hypothetical:

On Day 15 they announce another 15 days. And then in mid April, another 15 days. And in late April, another 15 days, and in mid May, another 15 days. By Memorial Day weekend (end of May), when the U.S. cases are in the tens of millions, the dead in the hundreds of thousands (if not near a million), they will finally shut it down, declaring a national martial law, all civilians must stay in their homes for the next 3 months. A lot of people will rebel, and die. In fact, most will probably rebel in the preceding weeks, as martial law is slowly enacted in metropolitan areas and states, before reaching a national level. Civilians that follow the law and lockdown in home shelter will either die from starvation, prolonged heatwaves and blackouts, or commit suicide. The summer will be hellish and long for a great many Americans.

By that point, there will be no media to hype the panicked masses, who will allow their own psychotic minds, drip-fed in the months prior with persistent building fear to lead them to leave their shelters and subject themselves to the perils of the ever-mutating virus, to rid themselves of the persistent paranoia that wrought that their minds. For many, they will have devolved to the state that their fear of living in a perpetual world of catching the virus will outweigh the cost of dying from virus. To succumb to the virus will be an escape from the temporal, but infinite-feeling terror. One day, in the much distant future, the grip of the virus will cease as a cure is found. But the U.S. will have sank to such depraved levels of society by that point, the remaining fragments of the nation will take many, many years to recover.
