Wow...I had heard through the pipeline that it was FAR FAR worse there than what was being reported. For Italy to ask us to help them when they know we're up against big time here is really telling.

This is such a horrid situation, there's no way we can help them and they know it full well. They're in full on desperation mode and hoping for a miracle that they now know the Vatican doesn't give a shit to even pray.

Not gonna happen, USA will have it much worst than Italy, the particular characteristics of this virus (5 days to 2 weeks without symptoms but being able to contaminate others + highly contagious) make the initial contamination very stealthy and fast, the numbers in the USA will skyrocket in the next couple of weeks.

They’ve had rough years, esp 2016-2017, but not 68,000 in 3 months.
Me thinks you accidentally greatly exaggerated the last flu season in Italy. They definitely do have higher rates of flu death though.

Not at all, it's a complete madhouse there, body bags stacked and lining the streets, elderly being sick and dying alone of not just the virus, but starvation, lack of needed meds etc, overwhelmed medical staff working shorthanded in dangerous life threatening situations. Me thinks you are trying to make "winter season" to mean a FULL year. Sorry - not true. Winter season is 5-6 months divide 6 into 68,000 to get a per month death rate.
