Italy has one of the highest mortality rates from the flu. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76762208 [link to www.sciencedirect.com (secure)] ... Quoting: The Blessed They really don’t like Italy. They consider Italy as a crap hole. With what’s going on now, each for his own. Um, so that study period was 4 years , not a couple of months. “The objective of our study was to estimate the influenza-attributable contribution to excess mortality during the influenza seasons from 2013/14 to 2016/17 in Italy......We estimated excess deaths of 7,027, 20,259, 15,801 and 24,981 attributable to influenza epidemics in the 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2016/17” They’ve had rough years, esp 2016-2017, but not 68,000 in 3 months. Me thinks you accidentally greatly exaggerated the last flu season in Italy. They definitely do have higher rates of flu death though. I’m just a stickler for facts. I appreciate the article you linked- it was very interesting and good for thought for sure Me thinks you are trying to make "winter season" to mean a FULL year. Sorry - not true. Winter season is 5-6 months divide 6 into 68,000 to get a per month death rate. Learn to read... If we go by winter months, we'll say 4 just to be fair (usually more like 5) That'd be a little over 4,000 deaths a month.. and these are during some BAD flu seasons.. using these numbers.. The Coronavirus just this past week has outdone some of the worst flu MONTHS Italy has seen in the recent years.. Their death rate in 2 days is worse than an entire week of deaths in a bad flu season.. Article with data: [link to www.sciencedirect.com (secure)] |
