I got autobanned for trying to post the Bill of Rights here the other day.

I thought that was kinda weird.

L.A. County closes all beaches to deter crowds
Los Angeles County has closed all of its beaches in an effort to reduce crowds and slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Last week, some Southern California beaches, hiking trials and parks were packed despite strict measures meant to keep people apart. In response, many piers, parks, trails and beach parking lots have been closed.

(from LA Times, <50%)

This has the effect of protecting the property owners along the beach. In California, all beaches are public, so you can walk on the beach in front of the mansions of Malibu etc. Now with the beach closed, the unwashed masses have less access to the wealthy who are probably trying to wall themselves off now.

Seawater is very curative. It's not good for public health to restrict access to the sea during this pandemic.

The islands of of Long Island don't have the supplies or the medical care to deal with an influx of people. You've got to be flown off Block Island via Lifestar to a mainland hospital. Combine it with an elderly population and all it takes is one person. It's a closed colony. Nobody is trying to take anyone's rights away. They are just trying to keep a vulnerable population as safe as possible. Im' in Connecticut and I think at some point if the outbreak gets much worse in the tri-state area, we may have an interstate travel ban.

ARKANSAS is welcoming all the infected and foriegn as part of sacking out their citizens for globals? Go there? They have an advisory for you on their health dept page:
March 25, 2020
Advisory for Travelers from New York State and All International Locations
ADH is now recommending Self Home Quarantine for 14 days for all travelers from New York
State and all international locations. This is due to high rates of COVID-19 in New York as well
as in a growing number of international locations. In the interest of the public health, all travelers
who return from one of these locations are advised to quarantine at home for 14 days, starting
from the date they left that location. If you develop fever, cough, or other symptom of COVID-
19, you should contact your doctor for advice on where to be evaluated.
You can find details of home quarantine here: [link to www.healthy.arkansas.gov (secure)]
services/topics/covid-19-guidance-for-self-home-quarantine
Briefly, home quarantine includes these steps:
 Remain at home and avoid all public activities. This means do not go to work, church,
school, stores (including grocery stores), nor any public events or places.
 Do not have visitors in your home.
 If you live in a home with other people, stay in a separate room. If that is not possible,
wear a face mask when you are in the same room and stay at least 6 feet away from them.
 Wash your hands and use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer often. Do not share personal
items such as dishes, cups, forks, spoons, towels, etc.
 Do not leave your home except to get medical care. If you need to see a doctor for
reasons other than a medical emergency, please call us at your medical provider to
discuss the care you need.
 In the event of a medical emergency, call 911. Tell them that you are in self home
quarantine for novel coronavirus exposure. Keep a face mask on until a health care
provider asks you to remove it.
 Do not use any public transportation (buses, taxis, ride share services, or airplane).
 Check yourself for fever twice a day. This means taking your temperature in the morning
and before bed at night. Write it down in a log or piece of paper."

"While Raimondo has the authority to suspend some state laws and regulations to address a medical emergency, she cannot suspend the Constitution, ACLU of Rhode Island Executive Director Steven Brown said in a statement late Thursday.

“Under the Fourth Amendment, having a New York state license plate simply does not, and cannot, constitute ‘probable cause’ to allow police to stop a car and interrogate the driver, no matter how laudable the goal of the stop may be,” he said."
Quoting: FUCK THIS BITCH 76820193

New Yorker here. Under the National Emergency, I suspect that the 4th Amendment is limited. Don't you believe in states' rights? RI should be able to keep out NYers at this time, even though normally I am sure it would violate many things including usurping the federal authority to regulate interstate commerce.

How else can Trump open up part of the country, if barriers can't be established?

The selfish ny'ers who happen to have 2nd homes in wealthy newport, block island, westerly... have been told if they want to retreat here they must quarantine for 14 days at that home once here. It seems people arent abiding by that, and so yes, ny plates will be stopped & asked where they're going. Block island has 3 ventilators at a 14 bed tiny hospital. They cant allow even one infection there, theyd be decimated.

So there is that. Without them, you wouldn't have Newport and all the tourist dollars and income tax dollars it brings.

That bridge closure was probably within Louisiana and thus a matter for the state government to decide.

Commerce between the states is federally regulated. States normally cannot completely close themselves off. This was demonstrated in principle in the Civil War.

But at this time, Trump might allow states to do it, because it's a state-focused response supported by the federal government.

Plus NH taxes the crap out of waterfront property. Moved there in 1999, loved it for the first few years but then the invasion of Massholes and Connecticunts ruined it. Taxes on my house were $3k in 1999 and $12k/yr when I left in 2017 and never looked back.

last home my parents owned in america the taxes were 1100 US$ a week

nh used to spend the least per student while having the highest aptitude scores

absolute freedom of movement was a mistake

Re: ACLU Says Rhode Island Policy of Stopping New Yorkers is Not Constitutional
My husband drove home from his job in CT to our home in RI about an hour ago and said that he saw all kinds of state troopers along 95. The rest stop on the North Bound side of 95 is filled with tents, troopers, and national guard. Same with the weigh station that is never open. And they have a sign up directing all NY vehicles to exit 95 and check in with them.

I'm wondering about that too. How would it work with so many people working between the states?
