Anonymous Coward User ID: 76984449 United States 03/29/2020 04:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know we are! Never realized just how exhausting this all was? Kids used to spend alot of their energy at school. Now zero breaks for us parents!! Quoting: Oxi moran When most oarents had their kids it was assumed that once kids reached the schhol age, that kids would spend their days in school... now its all changed! Why did you have kids if you want them out of the house ASAP? I enjoyed mine and homeschooled them. They are adults now and I miss that time with them. |

The wife and I are (thankfully) both working from home, so don't have time to monitor my 13yo son. He hated school, so this is like summer for him. We can't force him to go outside and play, or keep up his studies while we work. Quoting: Writemeaticket Red Yes you can. You are the parents. Get creative. Find ways to motivate him. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76984449 United States 03/29/2020 04:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just in case....... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78702200 Try to prep in case YOU get sick and still need to care for the children. Make some meals ahead and freeze it, have a big jug of water near your bed or resting area, tissues, wash bowl and needed meds. You could wake up unable to move, sick with fever and so on. Teach them when to call 911. Teach the kids how to heat and get their own meals if needed, do a load of wash, load the dishwasher and care for you and each other, feed the pet, if you get sick. Yup. Teaching life lessons are very important. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76984449 United States 03/29/2020 04:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The upside of tnis virus. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77736426 Parents get to be parents again. You get to see what schools are actually teaching your children(Bet some things are being excluded now). No bullying on the bus or in school. No school shootings. Hopefully taxes will go down because education can now be done at home and you need less teachers, support staff, security guards, maintenance folks, equipment, buildings. How much does a laptop costs compared to all this stuff? One teacher can litteraly teach thousands. Not every child needs help with a lesson if taught properly. Working parents have a greater respect for stay at home parents because its really hard at times. Its sometimes much easier to send your child off to school than to deal with them. No sharing illnesses in class. The downside No sports No playdates or socialization other than siblings. No art , music or free lunch No teen pregnancies or indoctrinations into the lgbtq crap. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76984449 United States 03/29/2020 04:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Some people are sadistic trolls, roaming the web looking for anyone under stress to kick when down. This is a hard time for parents, shame on you for insulting and kicking the downtrodden. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78702200 How dare you........ insult these exhausted stressed out parents by saying it is so easy for me, there must be something wrong with you. Not all situations are the same. Some people are content being a full time cook and maid, a slave to constant demanding children. It is harder for some others to make that adjustment. I am so sorry you have to put up with these asses. It should be a time to support each other, not tear each other down, they are already stressed and need a little encouragement and support, compassion. It is a very hard job. Hugs from a great grandma Listen. It is time to wake up. It is no time for coddling. And there are tons of options for kids at home now. The net is full of homeschooling options. Workbooks can be found on amazon. This is a great time to be a family again when so many have been going their separate ways to far too long. Kids are in constant danger of brainwashing in these schools. Thank goodness they are at home for a while. |

Bet you the autism rate goes down. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77736426 The teachers unions must be having a canary. One teachers videotaped lesson can teach thousands. Only need a few to answer questions. Not every child asks questions. No need for teachers aides. Parents are the new teachers aides. Parenting will become valuable again. I think we've entered a whole new way of life. Its a good thing. Who would want to send their kids back to school if there could be a second wave of this stuff in the fall? And parents start figuring out they don’t need both incomes or one can work at home part time. Needs vs wants start being acknowledged. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78009776 United States 03/29/2020 05:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Been off on disability for over a year. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78053027 Kinda the same for me and the two kids. Kids are on disability too? In my experience, if the parent is on disability, the under 18 year old children would get something based on your record each for support. So you get your disability and then an extra $$ each child. It can add up if you have lots of kids. For example, the average SSDI check is around $1200 a month, not all get that but that's what they say is the average. So 1200 plus 2 kids at 400 each will give you a net disability check of 2000 a month income plus medicare for you and medicaid for the kids. I don't know if SSI pays for your kids if you are disabled. But SSDI does give them something if they are under 18 or 18 and still in high school. They graduate, check ends. That only applies if the parent, who has been paying social security dies. It also applies to SSDI. If the parent goes on SSDI, the state will pay for the child monthly. I had a spouse that was not terminal go on disability and his youngest child was around 17 years old. His other 2 were older than 18 and got nothing. They paid her Mom $500 a month until she graduated from high school. They even gave her back pay. |

They are driving us nuts!!! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78604580 I can see there being a lot of folks doing themselves in tbh as horrible as that sounds, people have had enough with it all. Jobs lost no money saved up for shit like this most all living pay cheque to pay cheque. Some places not helping and demanding bills rather than letting them off for 3 months in a hope this will pass. Make a schedule for each day. And get the kids to bed at a decent hour so you have time for yourself. It is a lifesaver. Soon everyone will calm down. |

Where are the real men for these kids? Is the family really so gone that they need the government to be the babysitters to the age of eighteen. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78654013 Most men today cannot support the family on one paycheck. Part of the problem is the family lives way beyond their means and the wife decides or is pressured to keep working after kids come along. A mother should be home with the kids. Get rid of the big mortgage and the second car and all the pretense....most people live a financial lie and their kids ultimately pay the price. |
