And aren't we set to pass right through it's tail once it passes us? Quoting: Vegz Atlas will reach its closest approach to earth on May 23. Atlas will be 44,738,725 miles away or 0.48 AU from the earth. If the tail becomes longer than .48 AU as the comet passes by the earth, the tail and any near earth objects nearby the tail will be blasted towards the earth. There is a 5-6 hour window when this will happen on the 24-25TH.
