If it comes to it, do you want to be placed on a ventilator?

I wouldn't after reading some information here about it and I told my mom so.

that being said i already had covid and got over it with minimal issues so i guess it's a moot point.

The ventilator to me is not the issue. It is the permanent damage it does to your lungs. It could be like having COPD, constantly out of breath. With no quality of life, if it came to it, I say give me the morphine on the way out.

if you see your loved one on a ventilator, make sure you yank it out of them, it's Most likely contaminated with corona virus and it's the reason they will die

I’ve had surgery, so I’ve been on a ventilator. I don’t remember it. I would definitely want to be intubated if I couldn’t breath. Dying due to inability to breathe isn’t a fun way to die.

This! I almost want to go buy a load of heroin and syringe (suppose I could just pick one off the ground for this) to have around in just in case. Would not know how to do it or how much to buy, or where to buy it though. Maybe fentanyl does the same. IDK. But slowly drowning sounds like a fucked up, medieval torture of some sort.

I've been thinking about this question as well. I don't think I would want to be placed on a ventilator but I wonder if that is fair to my family. I'm not sure.

I did see it save my mom's life in 2014. She had said she never wanted to be on a vent (she was a nurse). It became a different situation though when she was struck with lung cancer in her late 50s, and the surgery to save her life required her to be put on a vent. She ended up agreeing to it, and the surgery successfully save her life. She is on oxygen now though and was not able to return to work.

The 45 year old man with COVID-19 in Louisiana is supposedly doing better and off the vent now:

Hell, I'm not even going into a hospital. If I'm dying I'm dying out in nature. Iff it's too painful I'll kill myself.

I read 50% die on ventilator. How much money are we spending to keep alive that 50-20% who will be fucked up even if they live?

I guess staying home would help not take the ventilator option at the last minute. May it pass over each of our homes.

I think most people once they can’t breathe will do just about anything to be able to breathe.

I think that poor outcomes is the main reason that the number of ventilators being requested is higher than the number being required... No I would choose to die at home.

my m8 from boarding school was on an ecmo and ventilator for a month after a polo field collision and he became a haunted person wracked by anorexia until he hanged himself 2 years later
