Something as mundane as the bottles, or a single ingredient, special parts for the machines, etc. Who knows, there could be all kinds of dependencies that even one or a few missing will stop everything. This is the problem with 'just in time' supply chains, they break instantly. Just in time is too late! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77997618 Exactly? Where is the stuff? News reports say store traffic is way down. So why aren't the shelves restocked? Fuckin toilet paper tards are buying it all. This is about ONE paper plant and there are a whole lot more. >>>>> Georgia Pacific plant is at 120% of its normal capacity for toilet paper. It always operates round-the-clock, so its 350 workers can't put in longer shifts to increase production; rather the company has maximized the number of deliveries it can send out of the facility to exceed its normal output. The plant doesn't disclose production numbers of the Angel Soft and Quilted Northern brands made there, but the mill is able to produce 40,000 rolls of toilet paper each hour. So in a 24-hour day, it could produce 960,000 toilet paper rolls or 160,000 packs of six. As Americans were ordered to stay home and bathroom visits shifted away from work and school, the demand for toilet paper skyrocketed as people stocked their homes. Toilet paper sales across the nation jumped about 213% during the week ending March 14, compared to the same time frame last year, according to market research firm Nielsen. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77997618 I know. This from a grain/beans type online food supplier thwat i have waited over two weeks for: "The trouble we are currently encountering is that due to everyone rushing to shops and ordering online etc. all online retailers and supermarkets have flooded their suppliers with shipment orders, and they in turn have flooded the manufacturer's with a mass of orders too. This has led to an unprecedented level of stress on the supply chains within the UK, so much so that our suppliers are uncertain when they're getting stock as the manufacturer's are dealing with their backlogs, and as a result are unable to provide companies like ours with any information as to when we can expect to receive our shipments and then we have to unfortunately pass this information down the pipeline to our lovely customers!
