Many still cannot even through to apply because the phone lines are either busy or the websites cannot handle the traffic. Next week will be higher!

We are extremely dim unfortunately. To the point of completely brain dead. The brainwashed lefties are goners due to fake news lobotomy. And the right wingers are caught up in the left/right paradigm. This is a global take over of every country in the wor!d. It's not a USA/Trump/Democrat issue as a lot of GLPers think.

Well, when half the country got sent home, laid off, closed business doors, or furloughed, that kinda makes sense.

It was forced by govt mandate.

Welcome to your trial run of socialism in America. Where people wait around for govt paychecks so they can go to the store and buy only that which is made available.

I'm in Washington State. One can't even get through to file your unemployment claim. The lines are busy nonstop. I also found out that the 4 month extension that has been promised isn't even available at this time, which really sucks for me because my benefits ended last week.

Yes it has made me sick to see so many American friends and family get brainwashed into thinking this is about the usual us political sideshow. They think they are the only country that matters.

What happened to the "big, ugly, bubble" that tRump identified during his campaign? He owns that sucker!

$200 B to the little people, $2,000 B for banks and corporations. Kind of tells you where tRumps allegiance lies.

Don the Con has taken yall for one hell of a ride. And it aint over yet, lol. But you will soon wish it was.

We burned our economies so we can stay out of the hospital with a pain that lasts for a week and might make us fight for life, and prevent our parents to die.

II can tell you right now, two months from now many would take the gamble with the virus over eating dirt or their neighbour.

That is fair? You really have no argument, logic, or facts. Not surprising.

OUCH!

The torrent of Americans filing for unemployment insurance continued last week as 6.6 million new claims were filed, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

Before the coronavirus shut down major parts of the U.S. economy, the highest week for claims was 695,000 in 1982. The Great Recession high was 665,000 in March 2009.

That brings the two-week total to about 10 million due to the coronavirus-induced economic shutdown.

What do they expect when half the country is under mandatory lock down under threat of imprisonment and fines?

I bet they'll still spin this, "Orange Man Bad".

The guy could cure cancer and end world hunger, and they'd still say he's bad for you, "Orange Man Bad".
 Quoting: Coppercoal

The Dems will flip the script soon after all their state governors demand Fed action and lock everyone in their homes for months.

There are TRILLIONS of $$$$ falling from the sky. No one wants to be the sucker who still goes to work while everyone else is sitting home making more than they were making on their job.

I guess the fed will have to raise interest rates now! They always lowered them when the job numbers were 'good' to pump the stock market due to 'inflation'.

They can't. Higher interest rates entice people to put money into savings accounts instead of into the stock market. Consumers need to be leveraged up to their eyeballs for the consumption economy to work. Saving money is a big no no. Spend spend spend!!!

75% of these jobs are hourly wages that are forced shut... many non essential stores are closed.. Doesn't mean their jobs are gone, it just means they have been shut by the government.. they should obviously still get unemployment but it artificially makes you think of higher then normal jobs are gone.
