My wife has gotten into making bread

All of us six daughters learned breadmaking from Mama and our Grammie. We werent poor, we just didnt have money, so on Saturdays,Mama made a loaf for each day, and with the last of it, laid out a thick piece and put butter, cinnamon, raisens, brown sugar and walnuts if available, and rolled it into a pan for raisen bread and then repeated the basic idea with a thinner peice which was sliced in wheels, like biscuits and topped with brown sugar an sprinkled later with powdered sugar for sunday morning cinnamon rolls.
If she didnt have yeast(no big supermarkets and groceries came up through Chicago, Wiscosin and 150 miles east to us.) in winter,she made Irish soda bread with raisens, and biscuits with cheese baked in for our lunch-pails.
Whenever I think she or grammie are watching over us a faint smell of bread cooking warms my heart and tells me its so. And whenever we've had to sell a home and move, that loaf of bread in the oven helps alot, LOL.
