How has the coronavirus affected your job?
POLL: COVID Employment Changes
 Still working
 Reduced hours
 Temporarily furloughed

 Blank (View Results)

I just got furloughed, and I wasn't expecting it. I type medical reports, so I thought if anything, I'd have more work than I could handle. Turns out that's not the case. No end date was provided to me, so I have no clue how long this will last.

I'm freaking out. I have no clue what will happen to me long-term. I'll be okay for maybe a month, two at most, and that is just barely scraping with bare necessities.

I thought I'd poll you guys and see how you're all faring.

Goodbye, halcyon days...

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened.

I'm maintenance. They still allow people to protect and maintain property. Most everybody else is laid off though, probably 20 out of 25 people.

So far, looks like more than half of us have been affected in some way.

I'm so sorry guys. It's depressing.

I'm outside most of the day. I don't see anybody. Boss comes around a couple times to just see what's up. We chat, he fucks off.

It's probably the safest place I could be right now.

My accounts are mostly pathology and they have stopped doing surgeries except for emergencies, so workload is way down. I do have some acute care and nursing homes. Not sure why those have slowed.

Welp, I suppose after I file unemployment first, I'll start looking for some contract work with a hospital. Surely they need people!

My school district closed the schools, probably until August.

I filed online for unemployment, but it's been two weeks now, and I haven't gotten any response.

I hope to get that stimulus check by April 10.

Project manager at GE execute heavy duty gas turbine power plants to customers, industry has been hit hard, and don’t think I will survive April, even though I got an amazing bonus just couple weeks ago and have some of the most important contracts. Company is just under immense pressure and they will lay off 50% work force in the next two months. Luckily wife is still working but she is in the medical field so obviously not happy with her work location

Don't panic, it will just be for a few weeks. Apply for unemployment, creditors will wait for a few weeks. Send them a letter, let them know what is going on.

Re: How has the coronavirus affected your job?
Essential frontlines. New rules almost daily. It’s been a crazy stressful couple weeks. People can’t control themselves and are loitering making the job even more difficult. More restrictions coming. Limiting the amount of people coming in. People are getting creative by calling the police and fire marshal due to restrictions. 2 states have required nonessential areas to be closed within stores due to the extreme loitering. 3 major companies are wanting to get ahead of it and make it nation wide vs. waiting for the states to enforce.

The small portions of the economy that involve food, hygiene products and certain medical supplies are at the top of the economic pyramid in today's Covid-19 world.

However, for the latter, since the supply chain has become increasingly dependent on China, when they catch a cold, we end up with pneumonia.

I'm down to working one day a week for now, had been going in twice a week but we are so slow now and they are trying hard to keep the possibility of illness being spread. Still getting paid for now and am enjoying the free time to do some much needed yard work.
