U.S. FARMERS Purposely DESTROY Crops Grown for Restaurants, Hotels ( 10+ million pounds of FOOD DESTROYED ! ! ! )

I used to get about a quarter ton a week in rotting or expired parishables from one small grocery store for my pigs. Whatever they couldn't donate to the food bank got dropped off 1-3 times a week in the back end of my driveway.

My concern is that it’s twofold. People are eating canned goods and frozen stuff at home and not buying fresh produce...

So not only are they not eating the fresh produce which is going to waste, they are burning through the canned and frozen food supply so they don’t have to go to the grocery store.

But wouldn’t canneries-food packaging demand more veggies for their depleted stock? Is it yet another supply chain issue?

So we’re supposed to believe that people just stopped needing food Since they’re not going to the restaurant.

The goal of worldwide Agriculture is to provide a balanced supply to meet the demand + a reasonable surplus to deal with yearly weather variability to assure Food security and to maintain a profitable price to cover expenses.

Read the International and National Agricultural Reports - They always provide demand vs supply statistics and trends.

The Earth is nowhere near it's limit to grow food.

Most arable land is still forest and scrub brush lands.

Only 20% of currently utilized arable land is used for Grains, Fruits, Nuts, and Vegetables. This includes course grains for use as feed for animals.

The remaining 80% of current arable land is used for Animal grazing which is predominated by Mutton and Beef Production by a large %.

If more crop demand occurs, this grazing land can easily be converted to crops and Mutton and Beef meat production can be converted to more efficient Meat production land use by increasing Dairy, Poultry (Chicken, ducks, turkey, etc. ) and egg production while increasing World Animal based Protein from current with no increase in currently utilized available arable land use leaving all the unused arable land still in scrub brush and forests unused but still available for more Agricultural use in the future..

It's dumb to depend on corporate farms for our food supply. They poison the food anyway, and a lot of the food they are talking about dumping is food that people have stopped eating because it's poison, like milk, canned tomatoes (BPA leaching in the lining), corn...

They're gonna shoot themselves in the foot with this one as people turn to local, non-poisonous supplies and learn to cook and preserve again.

Trump messed up our trade agreements with Canada and Mexico, three years ago,things have gone down hill since then for farmers. Stores are now running out of milk and limiting purchasing . The few dairies left are dumping milk.Why cant our dump shit Pres. put someone in charge who knows how to organize ,like the military who are experts at legestics. The only people left around him are yes men with no experience. THis milk going down the drain could be going to food banks, nursing homes, hospitals and any where needed. Farm prices are so low it wont pay to plant,but those can get crop loans will, and NO the government will not bail us out.THe 2cents a bushel subsidies last year was a slap in the face. Farm bankruptcies are at record highs,sueisides the same. One out of every 5 kids goes to bed hungry each night. WE can do better!

We had no iceberg lettuce at vons! ANd eggs that were 1.99 are 5.19.

There has to be a way to distribute to food banks.

When I drove home from getting groceries at 8am on Saturday morning, the lines were over a mile long for FAFSA food distribution. People were lining up at 7am (I know because I went to the store at 7am and was on my way home at 8am). There were about 20 cars early, and the lines at 8am went down 2 local streets as far as you could see, and I would guess the line to the north was a mile or more long, and the line to the west was more than a quarter mile long & were still coming up the road as I drove to the west. I live in a flat area in the Southwest USA, so you can see for miles.

Some one has to come up with a way to get food that is slated to be dumped, as long as it's fresh, to people in need. Get it onto airplanes, or trucks, and get it out of there to people in need. We have the best minds in the world in the USA....now get busy and feed people!

How do people not know logistics?

Giving tons of produce in the field away is not free, it is not an instant done deal.

It costs money to harvest crops and it costs money to take them somewhere and distribute them.

It costs money to insure volunteers from town to come in and pick the crops and then it costs again to clear up the mess that volunteers make.

Farmers destroy crops every year for one reason or another. IT it part of farming.

There probably are no nearby canneries. We used to have a cannery here and there used to be a cannery about 50 miles away, but they have been gone for years. They did not can a wide range of produce though. The next cannery now might be a thousand miles away now.

I have friends who are tomato farmers. It cost them almost $5 a box to pick, gas, package, and store tomatoes.

Would you invest $5000+ of your own money PER ACRE of tomatoes to harvest if you knew you couldnt get it back? Especially after you have already invested $2000 PER ACRE to plant and grow them?

They have already lost tens of thousands this year, and are scared to plant anymore.. They normally plant 5 times a year..
