When talk of the virus first started in January, I bought 80 pounds of boneless pork loin @ $1.91/lb. It is truly the "other white meat". Mostly lean as packaged, may trim a little fat if baking it, leave the small amount of fat on it if going in the smoker or on the grill.

Good eats for not much money. Makes great pulled pork, too.

I NEVER buy Smithfield or Tyson.

We stopped buying all Smithfield products once they sold the company to China.

Now we go to local meat markets that butcher their own critters.

Even HEB & Walmart meats are low grade.
It irks me that commercial meat packers use carbon dioxide to make that long dead ago meat look fresh. Don't play games with meat.

Local butchers that kill and cut have the freshest killed unprocessed meats, not some month old preserved steaks.

A few months ago the US pork industry was sitting on record stores of pork.

They had a two year supply on ice I believe.

So in reality this wouln't effect anything. Except they will use this as an excuse to illegally inflate the price.

What does these mean for sub sandwiches? Not becayse if the meat but because of the handling and spreading in a constant preperation enviroment that isn't cooking the food.

Sorry, not sorry. Been buying beef, pork and chicken from a local butcher shop that has been in business over 100+ years. They buy only from local farmers. The beef and pork is processed on site. I feel bad for the honest, hard working people that have lost their jobs but not for the corporation!
