"We Can't Give Our Product Away" - Farmers Toss Thousands Of Acres Of Fruits, Veggies As Sales Plummet
[link to www.zerohedge.com (secure)]

As some misguided liberals complain about fruits "left rotting on the trees" because Trump's immigration crackdown has left no undocumented migrants to pick the vegetables (a demonstrably false assumption), the Associated Press has offered an explanation for this phenomenon that also illustrates how disruptions in the businesses like the hospitality and food-service industry work their way through the supply chain, ultimately sticking farmers in the American Farm Belt with fields of vegetables that they can't sell, or even donate as local food pantries are now full-up with donations from restaurants.

The AP started its story in Palmetto, Fla. a city in Manatee County on the Gulf Coast, where a farmer had dumped piles of zucchini and other fresh vegetables to rot

By the way there are 10's of millions of illegal immigrants in the country already.

Do they expect us to believe those illegals just disappeared overnight?

This kind of stupid greed is unacceptable.

YES, better to give the produce away than to let it rot! People will be hungry soon. Use what bounty you've been given. If you cannot sell it at the usual profit, then it is vastly better to allow people to pick it and use it.

I think that's what they're saying

That they can't even give the shit away, not that they won't. Since food banks ate well stocked from restaurant donations..

Couldn't they just can/freeze all that shit ? I suppose that's not the farmers province though

Then they would be engaged in "processing" which requires additional FDA oversight.

Here's the best advice from a long time food freedom fighter.

First, plant everything you can yourself. Second, do PRIVATE contract with people who grow food.

The globalist agenda has always been to control the land, control the food and therefore control the people.

Resist. Grow yer own and support your local farmers.

Even if the farmers gave the produce away, are the trucks gonna haul it for free? Are the folks gonna unload it for free? Are the stores gonna sell it for free?

There is a whole supply chain of people who make money off of delivering products. They aren't going to do it for free.

Somebody has to pay or else you can grow your own vegetables and milk your own cows. That's reality.

Unacceptable waste. At the very least, have it collected to be processed for bio-fuels. The Government can even collect it and freeze it for use as a foreign export.

Aren't all those people receiving subsidies from the government? If there is a subsidy gap, fill it. Those found to be engaging in waste while receiving government subsidies, should be cut off for seven years from receiving any kind of grant or subsidy.

Part of the problem is the ridiculous level of regulations in the USA today. If people go picking their own and there's a rotten food, or a picker breaks a fingernail, the farmer gets sued. It ain't worth the effort.

This could be mitigated fast if the regulations were removed and there was a federal expediter(czar) that would make sure the food was not wasted. Nobody has even talked about this. Such a thing needs to be done via executive authority tomorrow, not next week! Think federal payments to continue these crops and chopping regulations. Filling up our food reserves is a worthy idea after the previous regimes raided them.

Governors could help, but they're too busy getting off on their own power trips. Opening the damn restaurants or starting a canning operation would fix this. Government can help, but it only has a few brians to work with. Every farmer has one or more of his own and that makes for a smarter country if they were allowed to help fix the problem.
