Even if the farmers gave the produce away, are the trucks gonna haul it for free? Are the folks gonna unload it for free? Are the stores gonna sell it for free?
There is a whole supply chain of people who make money off of delivering products. They aren't going to do it for free.
Somebody has to pay or else you can grow your own vegetables and milk your own cows. That's reality.
