Bide your time - this is the lull before the coroavirus storm - STOCK UP NOW if you haven't already before the 2nd wave hits!
What are YOU doing to prepare?

-Grow a garden
-Can food
-Get a food dehydrator
-Stock up on things you can

If history tells us one thing, its that the 2nd wave will be much more brutal than the 1st wave. NOW is the time to prepare yourselves for the 2nd wave. It will come later this year!

I am doing all of the above - and am planning to save as much food as I can to ride this thing out.

Thanks to GLP, I knew we would have a pandemic.

My best preps:

1. Huge load of garden soil. 21 cubic yards. All of my new plantings are going well. My soil is poor, and my previous gardens were mediocre at best. This year I will have excess to sell, store, barter, or gift.

2. Went on a garden seed ordering binge. It was not a major cost, but the payoff is big. Got some cheap aluminum disposable pans and about 1000 styrofoam cups to start seeds. Starting veggies off indoors is MUCH more successful than direct sowing for most.

3. Bought some new chickens. After only a month they are out-laying my old flock. Now, the old birds can go into the deep freeze.

4. Stocked up on animal feed and pet food. The feed store has NOT run out of anything. BTW, some of that feed is edible for humans.

5. Anti-virals, herbal meds, etc. Did not spend so much, but got everything that I saw on GLP that may prevent or treat CV.

6. Stocked my farm pond. The fish company was slow, but their truck finally showed up this morning. Fish in the pond is a long term store of protein.

7. Bought two milk cows. If SHTF, I will be selling veggies and milk to neighbors. Cows came with 6 baby bulls. Two are in the freezer and four more to slaughter. We will NOT run out of meat.

8. Did NOT stock up on food so much. The Queen had been saving her paychecks for a year, so she did the food shopping. Most is either non-perishable or in the deep freezers.

9. The Queen decided she wanted two deep freezers. With those, we can easily store excess veggies and fruit from my trees.

10. A good canning unit and a few dozen jars. BTW, Wally Mart is OUT of canning jars. Amazon has steep prices. Uline.com has them in stock at reasonable prices. Orders are often delivered to your door in 24 hours.

11. A pallet of food from the Mormon store. A truck will deliver it to my door.

They were only out of rice, but had everything else I needed.

In case you are wondering how I could pay for all that, well....I am a very good saver. Had money in the bank and The Queen had even more.

However, I made a good move when Rhodium hit over $12,000/oz. I sold a couple of ounces that I had kept for over 10 years. The coin dealer paid in cash.

All those years of living BELOW my income and prepping are paying off.

Even if you are just getting started, you can probably do something.

BTW, if you are one of the unfortunates who lost your job, could not pay rent this month, and do not have money in the bank, I would recommend:

Quit paying on bills and put every dime into food, firearms, meds, etc. Forget your credit report because no one is loaning money anyway.

Get in a group with friends and family to survive. Pooling resources is a better strategy than the lone-wolf approach.

Bail out of the city. A tent in the national forest is now safer than a high rise apartment building. A group could possibly rent a house in the country or even a small farm.

Hire yourself out to a farmer or small biz in whatever line of work you can do.

Do NOT trust that the gov is gonna save you.

You are definitely a lucky man! I don't live in an area where we can have livestock. I fear that meat will be one of the things we will start to see more shortages on in the near future (besides grains / fruits / vegetables).

The moran folks that love to call this a hoax are going to be severely fucked for doing nothing me thinks.

Great Job!!!!

I am very impressed! And, as a life long prepper that is not an easy thing to impress me.

I hope, and am sure that you do have, at least two dogs able to alert you of all incoming problems?? My old guardian is now 14. Recently added two huge pups who are just now coming into their own. They are doing an excellent job already protecting the ranch and the stock.

You did it right and are looking at being able to continue on, as much as possible, with a normal lifestyle for you.

My only advise is check into a solar generator if you have not yet purchased one. Silent running will be important for you and the freezers!

Again, great job!

Opto, you know we make our own luck.

I did not just start prepping for the pandemic. As far back as 1972 I was prepping for nuke war.

When I had the chance, I bought my 5 acre place just outside of Houston.

I still had to commute to work, and my commute is only 20 minutes.

There are downsides. My soil is poor, the rear part of the property was a swamp, the house was wrecked, and previous tenants used the pasture as a dump.

Slowly, I turned it into a good homestead with soil improvement, cleanup, a pond to replace the swamp, repair of the house, etc.

Only real downside in a SHTF situation is that it is too close to the big city.

However, there are limited ways to get into our small town and everybody pulls together in a crisis.

Perhaps it is time for city dwellers to think about ways to escape.

Even if we survive pandemic doom, there are plenty more dooms out there as threats.
