Maybe they have seen how they are slipping down the list and decided to play Catch Up!

I think we all know that the numbers fake right from the beginning but why the sudden jump now? Is something happening behind the scenes that they need to 'Up' the figures 'Now'?

I guess I am just asking - what are they playing at? Seems odd!

It's understandable. During the urgent and demanding period when the avalanche of patients came in, you may care less about the statistics, but prioritize more on saving the patients and managing the urgent system to curb the pandemic. So, you may not get the count correctly. But after things get stabilized, you can spend more time to carefully sort out the data.

I bet data in every other countries may also be not really accurate. It's not like there must be conspiracy to cover up the data, but the demand makes people concentrate more on higher priority things to do, so data collection may not be totally accurate. I bet the initial data collection problem also happened during Katrina or any other big disaster.
