Let's try to understand Corona Stats....
2,463,357 Confirmed Cases

169,502 Deaths
644,262 Recovered.

Deaths + Recovered = 813,764

Unknown = 1,649,593

This is worldwide. Now let's look at the US:
------------------------------------------------------------

778,176 Confirmed cases in the US.

71,921 Recovered

41,575 Died

Total = 113,496

Unknown = 664,680

So take notice of this. Only about 1/3 of the confirmed cases in the world have an outcome.

Only about 1/7 of the confirmed cases in the US have an outcome. That's 14%. 86% of confirmed cases have an uncertain outcome.

So you will read all sorts of things about mortality rates and other stats, but what does it mean if only a small fraction of the confirmed cases have a known outcome?

It means NOTHING. When you hear that the disease has the same mortality as the flu, what does that mean?

It means NOTHING. Or a 40% mortality, 20% on down to .3%, what does it mean? It means NOTHING.

They do not know the mortality rate because most of the outcomes are unknown.

What if all of the unknowns are dead?

What if all of the unknowns are recovered?

You get the idea. So it would be nice to shut up about fatalities and virulence until someone actually tallies the OUTCOME of the confirmed cases.

These stats are taken from Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

It is also known as the continually updated Coronavirus Map by Johns Hopkins University.

These are the numbers for today 4/20/2020

All the numbers are useless.
All I want to know is hospitaliztions due to confirmed by CT scan corona cases.
Never happen.

Unclosed cases are because the people are still infected.

What I am curious about is the Open vs Closed Case stats here:

[link to www.worldometers.info (secure)]

World wide:

Active Cases
1,656,793 Currently Infected Patients
1,600,349 (97%) in Mild Condition
56,444 (3%) Serious or Critical

Closed Cases
815,137 Cases which had an outcome:
645,008 (79%) Recovered / Discharged
170,129 (21%) Deaths

So what, of the cases that are closed, 21% of the people have died? How does that relate to 3% serious or critical?
