Panic Poultry
Odds of baby Chicks surviving to Produce eggs? I am a seasoned Chicken Farmer, and yes, I did buy Chicks before this all went down. I bought 8, 2 Orpington Poulets, 2 Australorp Poulets, two straight run Bantam, two straight run Ameraucana. I have lost one Bantam, and one Ameraucana. One to a Hawk, and one to a Snake. That being said. Everything eats baby Chicks.

<50%

It looks like toilet paper and disinfectant wipes aren’t the only things people hoarded during this pandemic. The nation’s biggest chicken hatcheries are reporting they are currently sold out of baby chicks.

I got 6 layers on March 10. One turned out to be a rooster. They're locked down tight day and night. Hopefully they'll all make it. I can get more at a feed store here and am looking to buy some meat birds, too.

These were for the kids, but I ended up taking over. Glad I bought them. I have had them pretty well locked down, the Hawk pulled one from the Pen. Now they are almost grown with a new Hen House. Made me sad to lose those though...

Get an incubator. Drive to a local farm. Politely ask to purchase a few fresh warm eggs...?
If you have knowledge, let others light their candles in it.
