A country that obides by the constitution and not based on false science from people with bad intentions. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76335639 I'm not talking about 200 years ago, I'm talking about 2020. We have a long way to go before we can build anything resembling a free nation. |

ROOSTRE (OP) User ID: 78190861 United States 04/24/2020 10:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Exactly, there is nothing but uncertainty on the horizon. Opening back up provides even less certainty than now, which is not very good for the markets or consumer spending. Corona could disappear tomorrow and we'd still be facing economic collapse. The whole system was poised to crash long before Corona came around. Corona was the linchpin, the wheels are off. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78686355 01/15/2021 10:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I went to the previous bustling successful Mall in about 5 days ago. I was in shock and started to cry. 50% permanently closed. Normally packed all day from 9 -4 Panera Bread, gone. Macys looks like Cuba or any typical third world nations store, inventory down 50%, nothing to buy. Nordstroms, nothing, a scattered few pieces of designer stuff. It's absolutely heart wrenching. They destroyed the fabric of society in less than a year. Without retail and cafes there is no way for people to connect. Without Libraries open (still closed) without senior centers, life is unbearable, has been for months, even in a semi opened city. What's it like in Miami Malls, are any of you there? Are the upscale stores like Gucci stocked, or is the China effect already in play? Do stores look stocked as normal? Are cafes open are people milling about and interacting? I need to know, now. I must try to move one more time. My city sold out and life is ruined here. I'm a bit afraid to say where. Life will never be the same here. |

The whole system was poised to crash long before Corona came around. Corona was the linchpin, the wheels are off. You nailed it, nothing but uncertainty. What about the commercial real estate sector? How many offices high rises are going to be vacant because people will only work remotely now? They can't convert all of those offices into apartments... the locations will make the rents astronomical. Who wants to pay a fortune to live in big cities any more? That means all of that real estate needs to be re-priced... that's more people losing millions or billions in real estate revenue. Consumers are going to save and not spend, because no one has any idea what's around the corner in the next 5-10-20 years... You can't shut down the entire world for a year or two, and expect things to bounce back overnight... or maybe EVER! |

I'd suggest those of you who plan to be eating next fall and winter follow suit. Things are going to get squirrely in the marketplace shortly. and if you don't have supplies put by, next winter is going to be brutal. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79785752 01/15/2021 11:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | At least 26 million people are out of work. Who exactly is going to be the consumer when things open back up? Quoting: ROOSTRE National debt, credit card debt, mortgage debt, corporate debt are all insolvent. That rug gets pulled soon. You'll see a small blip on initial reopening, but once people get it out of their systems, that's it. Most wont be coming out to shop, just ask China what happened when they reopened. We don't just open up and go back to normal. This is the collapse we've all been talking about for so long. It's here, we're living it. It's best to start figuring out how to make it. Retail sales cratered in today’s news. |

A free nation was an illusion. Exactly. They gave you the illusion of freedom with consumer choices, but now you don’t even have that. The writing is all over the wall, yet so many think things will go back to normal. Buy what you need now, by next year many of your favorite products and companies will be completely gone. You’ll get what they have on Amazon and be happy. No choices for you. |
