Water company is a corporation in many areas now. Easy way to quarantine is to keep the city water off for seasonal residents and keep them in Coronavirusville Its these idiots travelling everywhere that are spreading the virus. 1st, the chinese flood italy/europe/usa with their migrant workers and immigrants, that go back to china to visit family/friends and to celebrate their holidays, only to return with disease 2nd, the disease is in crowded cities.... KEEP IT THERE YOU LIBERALS GET WHAT YOU DESERVE and funny how they want to run away from the monster THEY CREATED Liberals enjoy their densification. We don't want their sickness out here in the sticks. The other option is to turn the water on, and closed the town bordeers. Turn away anyone in a "HOT SPOT" or with a temperature, or with an out of state license plate... GIVE THEM A TASTE OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE Hypocrites here are too funny In my OP, the Libs are blaming Republicans and Trump for the spread ~With forethought and malice Whitless enacted an EO giving nursing homes immunity from wrongful death prosecutions, forced them to take in infected patients and is responsible for over 6500+ nursing home deaths~ |

Stopped when the junkies needles and medical waste started washing up. Riptides at Salisbury are downright nasty. Me and my cousin got yanked out and almost lost our lives at 7yo Hampton Beach is right up the road anyway. I remember hanging out there with friends when Salisbury Beach was fun. We loved the rides and there was so much to do. You're right, it's a trashy place now- we don't go there anymore. They took all the fun stuff away there and built condos, the beach is always filthy and dirty. They have a state park there to which has more rules than a jail- after they close down for the night, no one is even allowed to walk on the state park beach, and believe me, they will kick you off as someone is always there to bust anyone having a good time. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78009776 United States 04/25/2020 10:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The town is not telling you that you can not come to your summer home. They are saying that the water company is only doing essential work and that does not include setting meters for your water. I paid taxes for years on a piece of land that I could not get water on. Why? Because they won't put the water in if there is no electricity to the place along with the electrical inspection that you have to have to show the water company you are in compliance. And we won't even talk about what I had to go through to get a septic tank put in. So if you want to go sit in a house without water or electric, no one is stopping you. But you will not be that comfortable if there is no running toilet. Outhouses are not what they are made out to be and depending on where you are, they might even be illegal. Second houses usually belong to rich or well off people that have attitude problems. In good times, you overlook the snobby assholes. But in a crisis, you really don't want to put up with their shytty attitudes of "me first" infantile ways and locals be damned. Be lucky they are not burning your "second", "vacation" home to the ground to keep you at your primary home. They could be doing that instead of just restricting the water. LOL Yeah, I've thought about it as a kid when I lived in one of those type of towns where the rich had "second vacation/summer" homes. They suck donkey dicks IMO. If they want to go that bad, they can always ship in some water, like they do in some places in the USA so they can have water, and they can get a composting toilet to set up. They should have the cash as after all, this is a "second" house and those usually cost ya to upkeep and all that mess. So get with the program. Buy a composting toilet or a bucket and a hole in the ground or stay home like everyone else is doing. "Summer" people are not "special" people no matter how much they want to believe they are. LOL Besides, those little summer towns don't have the same supplies in the winter as they do in the summer. And if the summer folks show up early, they bitch about the lack of stuff they are used to and the supply chain in not up and running for the summer time yet. They will use up the supplies and everyone will run short of things they need or want. And you might find that there is no postman yet because if half the houses are empty during the winter months, there is no need for that postman to work during the winter is there? IMO, the "second/vacation" home people will come to town looking for fun and entertainment they can not get in their primary home. This makes them dangerous. Why can't they stay at their "real home" instead of their vacation home? They are basically the same. Roof over head, toilet, food. What's different except location? Stay home!!! You will be blamed for any and all deaths in that town if there is no sickness before you arrived. And some people might not take that nicely. Damn rich people are past stupid and edging on retarded aren't they? LMFAO |

LOL Good try though. LOL There are pvc and pipes for that What I have found out in life is that the utilities are assholes. If you turn your electric or water back on when it's been shut off or they will not connect you, first they put a "wire" on it. When you cut that off, they put a "lock" on it. If you cut off the "lock", you will no longer get any service from them without paying out the ass for it. And sometimes, they will not even allow you to pay for it at all and just cut you off. The utilities are not federal, state or locally owned in most places. They are commercial businesses that are just like any other business in that they will cut you off and not give you service anymore. I've watched people (with children) freezing because of no heating even though there are laws against cutting off heating in the winter. Last frost date and you are cut off and if you haven't paid that bill by the next winter, they won't cut you back on until it's paid. Even if you have children. They don't have to. By law, they are not allowed to "cut you off" but if you are already "off", it's not their problem. LOL Cheap bastards should have paid the small monthly fee to keep their meters in and paid someone a small monthly fee to go around and check on the place every so often to make sure there are no leaks and such going on, squatters. What's wrong with people? Cheap asses... |

No matter what the condition of the beach is, people pay taxes and have the right to running water Seasonal Homes, to be exact. That's what they are talking about. Let's get that straight from the start. No, not fair, but the season is not open yet and town council is trying to dissuade folks from coming in so that the same thing that happened in Nantucket and parts of Cape Cod don't happen in Salisbury, which is a poor town to begin with. By the time end of May rolls around they will start opening stuff. Better to keep YEAR ROUND RESIDENTS safe than it is to cow tow to some ninny who thinks he is safe in his seasonal rental, No ??? Anonymous Coward User ID: 22806341 United States 04/25/2020 11:04 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hundreds of folks looking to head to their summer homes in one Massachusetts beach town will likely find themselves without running water. Quoting: ~kpm~ Officials in Salisbury are reportedly refusing to turn on water meters for more than 300 seasonal homes in an effort to keep residents homebound until the coronavirus pandemic subsides. [link to www.foxbusiness.com (secure)] Containing the spread of the coronavirus requires collective, unified action, but data on social distancing makes it clear this isn’t happening everywhere. The question is why. In what kinds of places are residents deciding to move about as if they are immune to the virus that has paralyzed much of the world? What do they look like, and why are they ignoring the calls for social distancing? To get some hints, I put together several sources of data from US counties focusing on economic and demographic characteristics, voting patterns, civic engagement and social capital, and even attitudes toward climate change from Yale’s Climate Change in the American Mind survey. Analyzing the data reveals that social distancing behavior is related to education; to race and ethnicity; to political identity and social capital; and to the impact that this virus has already had on the residents of particular counties. And the various sources of data also reveal a larger pattern. One of the strongest and most robust predictors of social distancing behavior is found in attitudes toward another major challenge facing the United States: climate change. Places where residents are less likely to agree that global warming is happening, that humans are the cause, and that we have an obligation to do something about it are the places where residents haven’t changed their behavior in response to coronavirus. The analysis makes clear that we have a collective action problem much larger than Covid-19. Other measures like the age profile of the county, the total size of the population, the racial and ethnic composition, and even the total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 do not have a clear relationship with social distancing behavior. Different characteristics turn out to be much better predictors; the strongest predictors are shown in the chart above. Perhaps unsurprisingly, politics and civic engagement bear a strong relationship to social distancing behavior. Higher levels of social capital — a combination of voter turnout in federal elections, response rates in the 2010 census, the number of associations and the number of nonprofits per capita — is associated with more social distancing. By contrast, counties with the greatest share of votes for Trump in the 2016 election were least likely to practice social distancing. And the greater the share of residents who disagreed with the statement that global warming is happening, the worse the county’s grade received in the Social Distancing Scoreboard. Social distancing grades rise with the level of social capital in a county, and grades fall with the percentage of the county voters who cast a ballot for Trump in 2016.
