I think so too, OP. And they are trying to identify other characteristics/groups as well.
Just like Herod tried to subvert prophecy 2000 years ago during the time Yahushua was born, so the kings of the earth will try to subvert prophecy now.
Matt 2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.
They are probably searching for their own "messiah" which, of course, will end up being the Anti-Messiah.
