Every military pilot that flies a jet capable of air-to-air refueling has to do it several times per year to retain currency so they can do it if and when needed in combat. It happens every fucking day. I don't disagree. 4 in a flight and pretty tight? The only time I have seen that is in combat It’s called MARSA. Military Assumes Responsibility (for) Separation (of) Aircraft. It makes it easier on Air Traffic Control because there is only one AC flight plan, one AC to control and many aircraft can be moved with ATC assuming it’s just ONE. It makes it easier on ATC. Makes sense. I just happened to see them and couldn't figure out why they were all so tight. Still find it curious though
