Re: Why the Rapture may be sooner than many people think.
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

who, being in the form of God
, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,

but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Re: Why the Rapture may be sooner than many people think.
These verses (plus many more) reveal the DEITY of Jesus Christ.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71518620

NO they don't. It's merely the twisted understanding of these verses that began with the early Catholic church. You folks IGNORE what Jesus actually SAYS.

The probelem with MANY church "doctrines" is that they DO NOT start with EITHER "thus saith the LORD" - OR - "and Jesus said...."

Thread: Son of God - Jesus' Relationship To The Father - John 17 and More - Bible Study

Titus 2:13 Looking for the Blessed Hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71518620

That is a poor translation. "Great God" is the Father.

[link to www.biblegateway.com (secure)]

John 1:1-3 (THE WORD was God and was made flesh)
John 14 "He who has see ME has seen the Father."
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71518620

IF Jesus TRULY was "the Word"...then WHY did the Father TELL Jesus what to say????

...the Father SENT me" - 47 verses in the 4 Gospels
..."I say what the Father has said." - John 12:49-50

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

2Peter 1:1 "To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ."
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71518620

"Our God" is the Father. John 20:17 PROVES such.

1 Tim 3:16 ... " God was manifested in the flesh.."
etc, etc, etc.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71518620

Another "trinitarian translation" of a verse.

Jesus - SON OF God - was manifested. NOT the Father.

[link to www.biblegateway.com (secure)]

Jesus is;
Fullness of the Godhead bodily
Alpha & Omega & The Almighty
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71518620

"godhead" is a trinitarian translation.

Jesus is holy and righteous - and His divinity and deity are as the SON OF God.

"Alpha and Omega" is taken from Revelation - THE MOST CONTESTED - and LAST - book added to the Bible.

Jesus is I AM
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71518620

NO He isn't. Take a look at the OTHER verses where He uses "I am".

Jesus doesn't say "I am who (that) I am".

His use of the phrase "I am" is uniqueness as the only-begotten son of God

Here's MORE times Jesus used the phrase "I am".

Mark 14:61-62

61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Luke 22:70 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.

John 8:28-29

28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

John 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

Jesus is LORD and GOD.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71518620

ONLY Thomas says that. ALL of the other say Jesus is "the SON OF God". Notice what John says at the END of that passage".

John 20

30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book;
31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

Immanuel - God with us
etc. etc. etc.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71518620

You reference what the angel said in Matthew 1 - but IGNORE what was said in Luke 1.

35 And the angel answered and said
unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come
upon thee, and the power of the Highest
shall overshadow thee: therefore also that
holy thing which shall be born of thee
shall be called the Son of God.
 Quoting: Servant-of-the-LORD

Ignore nothing. Believe every word.

The Son of God is God with us.

Jesus Christ is God in the flesh.

Your tongue will confess confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I agree with every verse you post.

You deny every verse I post.

All verses are true.

The only way to reconcile them is that Jesus is God, regardless of how difficult that is for our finite and limited minds to comprehend.

Nevertheless, there is One God and Savior.

Here's the opening verses to all of Paul's letters, where he constantly differentiates between God the Father and the Son Jesus. Salutations from BOTH the Father AND the Son.

Romans 1

1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

1 Corinthians 1

1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:
3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:
2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

Galations 1

1 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)
2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:
3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

Ephesians 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Philippians 1

1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,
2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

1 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Timothy 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

2 Timothy 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

Titus 1

1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;
4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

SON OF God.

Does God pray to Himself? NOPE.

For the simple scriptural FACT that Jesus said to pray "to the Father".

Jesus NEVER said "pray to ME" nor "worship ME".
.............................................
Let's compare scriptural differences of the Father to the SON.

The Father states that "I am God".
Jesus constantly uses the terms "the Father" and "My Father".

The Father prays to NO one.
Jesus prays TO the Father and teaches the same via the Lord's Prayer - "OUR Father".

The Father is NOT humble - and has no reason to be humble.
Jesus humbles Himself TO the Father.

The Father sits on the throne in Heaven.
Jesus sits at the Father's Right Hand.

The Father (in the OT prophecies) states that He will SEND / "raise up" someone.
Jesus SAID He was SENT.

The Father is in Heaven.
Jesus states He will ascend TO His Father in Heaven, not to "Himself".

The Father knows when Jesus will return.
Jesus doesn't know when He will return.

The Father has Moses remove his sandals on "holy ground".
Jesus doesn't tell anyone to do such a thing.

The Father SENT Jesus.
Jesus doesn't send the Father.

The Father is the source of all power, authority and wisdom.
Jesus learned from the Father, speaks words from the Father and was "given" authority.

The Father IS God Himself.
Jesus is "the Christ", the "Messiah", the "Lamb OF God" and the "Son OF God".

The Father gives thanks to no one.
Jesus gives thanks to the Father.

The Father knows ALL.
Jesus learns from the Father.

The Father's Will is done.
Jesus doesn't do His own will.

So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them.

O God of Israel, the Savior!

For thus says the LORD,
Who created the heavens,
Who is God,
Who formed the earth and made it,
Who has established it,
Who did not create it in vain,
Who formed it to be inhabited:
"I am the LORD, and there is no other.
I have not spoken in secret,
In a dark place of the earth;
I did not say to the seed of Jacob,
'Seek Me in vain';
I, the LORD, speak righteousness,
I declare things that are right.

Who has declared this from ancient time?
Who has told it from that time?
Have not I, the LORD?
And there is no other God besides Me,
A just God and a Savior;
There is none besides Me.

"Look to Me, and be saved,
All you ends of the earth!
For I am God, and there is no other
.

I have sworn by Myself;
The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness,
And shall not return,
That to Me every knee shall bow,
Every tongue shall take an oath
.

He shall say,
'Surely in the LORD I have righteousness and strength.
To Him men shall come,
And all shall be ashamed
Who are incensed against Him
.

In the LORD all the descendants of Israel
Shall be justified, and shall glory.'

Behold, My Servant shall deal prudently;
He shall be exalted and extolled and be very high.

Just as many were astonished at you,
So His visage was marred more than any man,
And His form more than the sons of men;

So shall He sprinkle many nations.
Kings shall shut their mouths at Him;
For what had not been told them they shall see,
And what they had not heard they shall consider.

Who has believed our report?
And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,
And as a root out of dry ground.
He has no form or comeliness;
And when we see Him,
There is no beauty that we should desire Him.

He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.

But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgment,
And who will declare His generation?
For He was cut off from the land of the living;
For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.

And they made His grave with the wicked—
But with the rich at His death,
Because He had done no violence,
Nor was any deceit in His mouth.

Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him;
He has put Him to grief.
When You make His soul an offering for sin,
He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,
And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.

He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied.
By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many,
For He shall bear their iniquities.

Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great,
And He shall divide the spoil with the strong,
Because He poured out His soul unto death,
And He was numbered with the transgressors,
And He bore the sin of many,
And made intercession for the transgressors.

But Jesus said to him, Follow Me

And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
I do not receive honor from men.
But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.

For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me.

I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

For I have come down from heaven

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.

I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?

I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.

Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

If you love Me, keep My commandments.

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

These things I command you, that you love one another.
If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.
If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

Re: Why the Rapture may be sooner than many people think.
But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life,
and that Day come on you unexpectedly.
For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Watch therefore, and pray always
that you may be counted worthy to escape
all these things that will come to pass,
and to stand before the Son of Man.

Luke 21:34-36

In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.

John 14:2,3

Come, my people, enter your chambers,
And shut your doors behind you;
Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment,
Until the indignation is past.
For behold, the LORD comes out of His place
To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity;
The earth will also disclose her blood,
And will no more cover her slain.

Isaiah 26:20:21

Seek the LORD, all you meek of the earth,
Who have upheld His justice.
Seek righteousness, seek humility.
It may be that you will be hidden
In the day of the LORD's anger.

Zephaniah 2:3

For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion
;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.

Psalm 27:5

"Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season?
Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.
Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods.
But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming,'
and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards,
the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of,
and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Matthew 28:44-51

Because you have kept My command to persevere,
I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world,
to test those who dwell on the earth
.

Revelation 3:10

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.
But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ

1 Thessalonians 5:4-9

I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles.
Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness!
For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,
if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them.
For if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

Romans 11:11-15

For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery,
lest you should be wise in your own opinion,
that blindness in part has happened to Israel
until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.

Romans 11:25

For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass,
and to stand before the Son of Man.

Re: Why the Rapture may be sooner than many people think.
Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.
It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.
Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning—
lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping.
And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!

Re: Why the Rapture may be sooner than many people think.
For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received,
or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!
