Thank you. She's very lucky to be alive. Whether it was God or my mother, someone was watching over her. The other three people walked away with barely a scratch. And they're all trying to get sympathy though she's the one in ICU and they provided the alcohol.

Isn’t the US on lockdown?

Where was she at that she was drinking and partying with friends?

Head-on collision with another vehicle? I thought bars and businesses were closed after a certain time. This is not making any sense to me.

For what it's worth, I've heard drinking alcohol can be beneficial to trauma injury patients. Hope she recovers quickly and stays safe from other illnesses while healing.

Try to think of loving memories of her when she was healthy and strong. Keep your spirit up.

No offense OP, I’m speaking about the generation as a whole.

She lives in WNY. Apparently they were drinking at her house and her friends wanted to joyride. So they were doing 65 in a 35 on a snaky road in the rain. She's not actually old enough to drink. They spun out and hit parked cars and then flipped.

Ejected victims used to have a 50% survival rate last I checked ... when my friend was ejected a couple weeks after HS graduation ... and didn’t make it

She was in the middle seat because she was on a date and wanted to snuggle up.

A drunk driver hit them

He had a broken arm

She had head trauma from going through the windshield and died

OP - I pray she lives and can recover from ALL her injuries - quickly go to angel help thread as they are great healers !

There are medical Miracles now that they do - and since the HOSPITAL IS EMPTY it will be ALL HANDS ON DECK FOR HER and she will get lots and lots of loving professional care .

It really sucks that it takes a horrible accident for them to see their own mortality, and the ones that came out virtually unscathed, they probably still didn’t learn and will continue doing similar things. The ones responsible, that brought an innocent minor into their drunken joyride games.

I'm sorry :( That's terrible. My niece was in the back seat and we think she went out the back window. The police are still investigating, so we still don't know exactly what happened, only what my sister was able to gain from officers that were on the scene. She has internal bleeding, cracked ribs, a broken pelvis, and a long cut down to her skull. :( I'm hoping she pulls out ok.

My friends Mom (decades ago but memorable) was FURIOUS at us High School kids and thinking we could do whatever we wanted and take risks like that. She called us each morning hat sent flowers and YELLED at us .
She wanted us to live - that was all.

Her daughter was Brilliant -going to an Engineering college on scholarship and musically talented besides - fluent in languages - I still hear her laugh decades later.

Your niece took a similar risk that the young take for granted. Her life is changed forever.... and I hope she has a long and full life !

God send some healing angels to tend to this young woman and make her as good as new ...

OP - stop drinking now - after one or two - so you can be there for her parents and not drown in your own emotions - they need you more than ever .

I'm hoping she learns a lesson from this, but I'm not so sure. According to the bf, she called him and said they had already done the face surgery, yet the Dr told my sister a couple hours ago they were doing both surgeries at the same time. The bf is real controlling, and I think my nephew can't wait to get ahold of him.

Thanks other than her husband and kids, I am all my sister has, and vice versa. She has barely slept since last night. I got off the phone with her a couple hours ago, and I'm hoping she at least took a nap. She's supposed to call me after surgery, but I live in the SE, so we can't storm the hospital together or we damned sure would.

Well, you completely suck at critical thinking, so wtfe. I stated in an earlier post that I live 900 miles away, so there's not much I can do. Also, when I'm drinking (a reasonable amount) I'm not a doormat, so I'm probably a BETTER help. And no, it's Friday. OMG, I'm drinking! The horror!

No. You are just a weak individual. I would drive across the entire country for my nephew, lockdown be damned.

Even if the hospital has already explicitly said you couldn't come in, and you didn't have the money to drive 900 miles during a pandemic? Whether real or not? Some of us aren't middle or upper class. I know, that breaks your heart....

I have heard from several people who recovered from traumatic things they could hear the people praying for them.

I asked my sister to give me her room number when she gets settled. She talked to her before surgery, so at least she had that.

I'm so sorry to hear this...what your family is going through right now is awful but TALK to each other a lot and check in with each other frequently.

I lost my 16 year old nephew last year in a car crash and it is horrifying what it does to a family. Losing a child is a tragedy I would wish on no one. Lots of us here to keep you company...
