A good rational analysis. But, still, a man lost his life because he was pursued by people thought he was committing a serious crime, which he wasn't. Avery didn't know what the two men with guns were planing, but he shouldn't have attacked.

I think the activist were right to bring attention to this case and now it's time to stand down and let the courts work.

He entered a dwelling, if he had the intent. or indeed if he took anything. That's a first degree felony.

Good analysis. Points out too it was not a ‘house under construction’, but an established residential dwelling that was being remodeled. I wouldn’t want someone walking into my house just because the garage door is open and it’s being remodeled inside although I think a couple of my neighbors might do that. But I wouldn’t like it.

He had every right to defend himself rather than be passively shot down in cold blood. Most people would fight back if they think it’s their only chance to survive. And if they surrender instead, that’s also an option. Not for me to second guess someone who is making that kind of split second life or death decision. But the killers are in jail and have plenty of time to think about what they coulda shoulda done so as not to be sitting in jail now. That’s good for them to have to think about it.

I think this may force officials to remove the deputization of citizens to make arrests or limit their powers (perhaps forbidding the use of firearm when making a citizen arrest. ).

However, I notice a distinct pattern.

Just before every election, stories like this dominate the news cycles. Ferguson, Gray in Baltimore, etc.

I think this is PLANNED. The Left needs to motivate the black community to get out and vote.

In this particular case, I think the vigilante action went overboard and those two guys will probably go to jail for their bad decisions.
