If Trump showed more signs of a political ease with the left, much less if he were a flaming liberal, I'd suspect he was guilty as changed. In turn, if the left hadn't been gunning for him since 2016, I could see him being way too passive about them. But Trump is like a J oo in 1930's Germany dealing with Hitler and other Nazis.
