The United Kingdom should take action against Israeli economically by placing new limits on the preferential-trade agreement between the two countries, the British House of Lords' International Relations and Defense Committee said on Tuesday. It raised concerns over Israel’s pending plan to annex West Bank settlements, in a letter sent to the British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, the Rt Hon James Cleverly. “The annexation of occupied territory is in violation of international law as set out in UN Security Council Resolutions,” the letter stated. The UK has been outspoken in its opposition to the plan and has stood alongside the most vocal European countries which have also condemned any such move. [link to www.jpost.com (secure)]

The Health Ministry announced that Zaid Qaysia, 15, was “killed by a live bullet in the head fired by the Israeli soldiers in Al-Fawwar camp”, with a further four Palestinians injured during the raid. The Palestinians were “wounded with live bullets, one in the abdomen and the other in the chest, and the rest in the lower limbs.” According to local sources, camp youths protested as soldiers stormed the camp and opened fire at them using live rounds. Abdelfattah Najjar, a resident of Al-Fawwar and Qaysia’s neighbour, told Al Jazeera that dozens of Israeli soldiers entered the camp to arrest a teenager. [link to www.middleeastmonitor.com (secure)]
