Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78913529 In fact, every version of Windows was good until he left, only after he left did the piece of shit Windows 8 and then the total crap v10 get released. He hasnt had anything to do with Windows for years. But you should stop using Windows 10 because it is a piece of sh$! Have you forgotten the Blue Screen of Death? Windows 95 used to crash several times a day. When I was at college in the late 1990s, the Windows NT network would crash a couple of times each lesson and we'd have to wait about 15 minutes for it to reboot. |

I havent seen an emulator yet that works well, you may as well run win 10 offline while gaming. |

Quoting: Butch DeFeo Perhaps money could be made giving classes on or tutoring people how to use Linux. you dont need tutoring honestly. Ubuntu for example is UI based OS, just like Win. for most peep if just browsing net linux setup is cake. if you have older equip will run way better/faster |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76899121 United States 05/17/2020 08:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | this is what id do. Use linux as your desktop, then use vmware, or virtual box for Windows. Lets face it Windows has some robust apps which some people like. so just run win ontop on linux, when your done editing etc shutdown virtual machine. if you have modest PC skills its not that hard at all. |

This version its basically free MacOsx the way the GUI is set these days. If you need a macbook that bad just to feel cool you can install the other desktop GUIs available and MacOsx skin, font, and icons. The ubuntu app store works the same as Mac but all the apps are free, some suck bawlz and some are great, last there is auto updates via the GUI for you non-command line losers. Sometimes I use Kali Linux but that's only when needed for work purposes. For whoever that person was that thinks you cannot play games on Linux they are wrong. You can! must install lutris, wine, DXVK Vulcan drivers and make sure you have compatible chipset and graphics. Anonymous Coward User ID: 76899121 United States 05/17/2020 08:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've been using Linux for over 20 years! : ) Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78293849 It has been my primary/home OS for at least a decade. (In the past, Linux used to be fairly buggy and have compatibility issues, but those issues are almost entirely gone now. Linux is far less "buggy" and "problematic" than Windows nowadays, imo. I have no issues on my Linux OS nowadays. Very, very stable and usable for all tasks.) Btw, just fyi: Most (but not all) Windows games can be played fine on Linux. I have played many, many cutting-edge Windows games on Linux just fine. As the OP suggested: For many reasons, including privacy and security and avoiding crappy products made by jerky corporations, I highly recommend Linux to all! P.S. My recommendation for the best distribution of Linux for a new user would probably be Ubuntu, as it is now one of the most stable and usable and common standards. Using a very common / standard distribution is very helpful for new users, imo. (I happen to run a slight variant of Ubuntu called Kubuntu (it's Ubuntu + KDE Desktop Environment). But it's basically Ubuntu. And it's great.) using Ubuntu 20. LTS running as a VM myself now |

Ubuntu 18.03 installs nice it takes up a fraction of the HD compared to Windows and after running apt update and upgrade then fixing one of the config files so the wifi doesnt auto-sleep, all works great... the touch screen and the stylus no probs. This thing Never overheats anymore, fan rarely turns on like when Windows10 was on it. Linux Most people don't realize near 40% of the VMs in Microsoft Azure are Linux. Heck maybe more that was an old stat when I got it last year. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 74688880 Finland 05/17/2020 01:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | linux isn't anymore secure. in fact in many ways it's worse also gates has stepped down from Microsoft. For workstations, the only thing i've seen with recent linux distros is that it's a next next finish on the install so some of you idiots don't need to figure out how to partition your setup... The real advantage of linux is for business as long as you have the human resource who has serverside chops and can harden the server and you want to save money on microsoft high licensing fees.... For the avg user, 90% of the linux distros are a lot like most cryptocurrencies.... It's all half baked trash... |
