Precious Metal P51 Mustang fitted with counter rotating props. I'm guessing the added transfer cas weight, reduced secondary thrust is worthless.

The first prop is pushing air back at 400+, how can the second bump it enough to compensate for a 2,000lb (???) weight drag? That being asked, it is my favorite airplane except for the B58 Hustler.

How did the little starter motor gear deal with the weight of the transfer case and prop? How did they trim the tail wings to balance the added nose heavy weight?

Heck yeah. More lift and speed with less prop wash and propeller torque. Must be nice

How much horsepower is wasted without increase lugging an extra (2000) lbs around?

If one knows how to adjust the push of refractory, weight is of no concern.

Neither are wings for that matter, they are just fuel tanks.

Twice the propellers, way more transfer case prop weight no new horsepower, I dunno but I'm guessing zero speed increase. ??? ..but I hope it works because I luv this plane.

It seems not. You need a lesson on thrust/weight lift ratios.

The DO 337 Pfeil did it a little better I think. But I see what he was trying to do though.

When I was a kid there were two Mustangs parked side by side at the small regional airport near my house. They were there until the airport closed in the early 70's. That was a great investment somebody had made.
