I agree. I have been lurking for almost a decade but recently decided to participate. I appreciate that people are able to discuss things openly and share their opinions (even those I don't agree with ;-). It is one of the few places online that I feel we are still "keeping it real" (even if "real" is a bit harsh sometimes).

Congratulations and Welcome!!

You are participating in the ongoing ´99 to the inth degree´ act play called ´Group Consciousness´.

This is a unique ongoing production that consists of actors from all over the world who write their own lines. This play has no daily agenda, or storyline, and meanders in similar fashion to that of a stream cutting an ´S´ through the flatlands.

So, in this unique ´S´ shaped production, what role do you feel you play?

Do you play the role of the hero or villian?
Do you play the role of antagonist towards the group . . .getting your kicks out of stirring up ´shiete´ for your sheer entertainment?
Or are you the Peacemaker?


Perhaps you are one of the ones who are happiest playing the role of observer/lurker that hangs out ´behind the scenes´ too frightened to ´stick your neck out´ on the lighted ´stage´ for fear of screwing up and being attacked? (After all, you´ve learned well, and have seen others fall flat on their face in their attempts . . .fear keeping you safe in the shadows.)

Maybe your appointed role is that of ´Devil´s Advocate´ where no matter what anyone says, you´ll say the opposite.
Or do you play the part of the strong willed citizen, not unlike ´Atticus Finch´ in "To Kill a Mockingbird" who´s concern is to raise the level of the group´s consciousness with the reminders of basic truths, while battling the headwind of harsh criticism from your own townspeople? If you chose this role, are you capable of standing strong in its headwind?

Then there´s the role of ´town drunk´ in ´Mockingbird´ whose inability to see his own blatant ignorance as ´staggering´.

Maybe your self-appointed role is to sit in the darkened audience, gleaning off others knowledge, courage, etc., hoping you´ll come away entertained and full.

Perhaps you´ve bravely stepped out of the audience and now stand in the wings waiting for the right moment to cue and offer support to those playing the lead roles?

Or maybe an ´understudy´ who carefully studies the role of another in hopes of being able to have your ´day in the sun/light´.

Questioning the intent behind your ´self-appointed´ role in this ongoing ´99 Act Play´ isn´t to point a finger . . .for we all have different personalities and roles in life. Not all can play the lead, as the other supporting roles are just as necessary.

As the old saying goes, "Too many chiefs, not enough Indians" . . .has ruined many a Pow-wow.

No, the question to you is, are you completely satisfied with the role you have chosen to play?
