Self-preservation. It's not just the Chinese. Many poorer nations are filled with people starving. In reality, there are many people in the U.S. going to bed hungry, especially children. I know a few school cooks that are preparing thousands of meals per day to feed children who would typically be on the "lunch program" if school was in regular session.

Check out some of the videos on YouTube. It will make you grateful for having something to eat.
