I have installed similar lighting systems in the US. This guy is misrepresenting the intent of the components. In the US every lighting system, at least those used by municipalities are required to be UL and or DLC listed. Which means they have been laboratory tested to meet safety and health requirements. I know Canada has RHOS or something similar so I’m sure the U.K. does as well. The antenna is present so the lights can communicate with a command beacon. They are present to save energy costs by dimming during time periods when people are not likely to be present. Wee hours of the morning. The led diodes he points out have diffusers to help best distribute the light emitting from each individual diode. So instead of a street light acting as a spotlight beam straight down the diffusers spread the light over a wider area. I’m an electrician and business owner and if I thought the equipment was dangerous in any way shape or form I would not participate in its distribution and installation. Thank you for your time

I can tell you for fact that is a standard LED outdoor lighting fixture. The antenna is so that you can remotely turn the lighting on without having to use traditional switching methods. It’s an RF signal it’s safe. The white box he was referring to is considered the driver or a ballast. There is nothing unusual about that light fixture see..... I work with them all of the time.

Lol, as an Electronic engineer I can say this guys has no clue whatsoever! the antenna is an etched on PCB strip antenna very common in many RF devices, that capacitor is a small SMD, aluminum electrolytic type, could never have a rating of 450V. It could be he's reading the capacitance value of 450-470 microfarads. The dielectric would have to be pretty thick for a larger voltage rating and physical construction of how caps are made limit capacity, V rating and physical size tradeoffs, Aluminum electrolytic caps are not good for being in a resonance circuit.. this one is for the supply rail noise filtering I'm sure.. also, the small transformers on the other board are used in switch mode power supplies. Used to operate in the 50khz to 100khz PWM or so for buck/boost otherwise converting incoming power to several other fixed, stable power levels for various other circuit constraints ie. For digital ifs, analog, rf and LEDS..
