I used to think that a Chinese invasion fleet was impossible as it was not blue water capable. However, I then read an article saying that China had one of the largest blue water fleets in the world.....its shipping business using its tankers fleet. In today's world of small package / high damage missiles, it wouldn't take much to arm them either. Back in the Gulf War, we outfitted such ships with military hardware for defense.

Provide massive and effective development assistance for our developing northern neighbours such as Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, etc. to counter communist Chinese influence in the affairs of those countries, while creating a buffer zone between potential future communist Chinese expansion and the Australian mainland.

As for a communist Chinese military invasion of Australia... they could establish beach heads in several major ports easily enough - look at the unannounced visit of a small group of PLAN warships to Sydney Harbour a little while back. Sure, it mostly so some CHICOM admiral could make a few extra slopebucks by picking up truckloads of Australian baby formula, but it was also a test to see what the white devils would do. As it was, the white devils did nothing, allowing communist Chinese navy ships to berth at the Royal Australian Navy's Fleet Base East. CHICOM ELINT collection systems would have been working overtime too. Would they be able to do it again with hostile intent? Maybe they could establish a beach head, but they would be starved out and their supply lines interdicted and destroyed before too long.

Conventional full scale invasion? Nope. They can't even subdue their "rogue province" Taiwan - which is awesome by the way since it shows the world exactly how weak the communist Chinese military really is, despite the constant bluff and bluster.
