But as the “anti-vaxxer” movement appears on the national stage and documentaries like Vaxxed gain support from movie stars like Robert De Niro, the risks it poses to the health of the country are no longer hypothetical.

“The reduced number of children being vaccinated in the U.S. isn’t just a problem for those children,” said Author S. Jay Olshansky, professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health. “It’s a problem for the country because it lowers herd immunity.”

Simple fix: give us an option free from toxic chemicals, heavy metals and aborted babies. Until then, stfu.

One of the biggest myths that antivaccinationists believe and like to use to stoke the fear of vaccines is the concept that they are full of “toxins.” The myth that mercury in the thimerosal preservative commonly used in vaccines in the U.S. until early 2002 was a major cause of autism is simply the most recent bogeyman used to try to argue that vaccines do more harm than good, as was the scare campaign engineered in response to Andrew Wakefield’s poor science claiming a link between the MMR vaccine and autism.

You busybodies just can't stand the thought of free choice. If people would rather risk it with the flu than risk it with thimerosal (and who knows what else), then they will. All you can do is stamp your feet and call them dumb and scared.

The real problem here is that the medical industry has lost our trust. It took a lot, but the industry managed to lose all trust. Work to regain the trust, and the business will follow.

Or you can take the jackbooted authoritarian approach, comrade.
