Oroville, CA.

No shortages really, but prices are high. Ribeye, T-bone etc., near $15/lb. Even cheap cuts are near $10/lb.

A whole chicken, about $12. An average-sized Tri-Tip is about $25. Lamb seems to be a steal. I bought a package of 2 large lamb chops for less than the price of a cheap steak.

I know of one store that has the good grassfed lean ground beef for $4.99/lb, when it is $7.99 everywhere else. I usually shop there first.

I'm in Maine Augusta area roughly. I don't look at prices just get what I want or need. I've noticed that the pork selection is awful so haven't bought any in last couple months other than some bacon. The chicken that we usually buy is out of stock and haven't seen it in months. We prefer organic antibiotic free just hard to find. We just bought some for grilling and it came thin cut and small packages. We use Hannaford and Walmart pickup. I will try to notice prices

We got notice a little over a week ago to change our packaging and thickness of cuts. Kinda like they do with potato chips and cereal , packaging less weight, because of increase in prices per pound.
Example , instead of reg cut of grilling steaks being 1- 11/4 in, they’re now 1/2-3/4 in.
So.... also the pork and chicken we get in is frozen rock solid. Takes a day of it sitting unrefridgerated to even halfway thaw to cut it. Would explain the weird coloring of some meats aswell. If you cut it partially frozen it doesn’t bloom out well. You can’t scrape the bone dust off either.

We were thinking we'd butcher our steers and give people a good price on bulk burger, but can't get them butchered and sale barn prices are garbage. The lack of freezers is a huge issue too. So keep them til winter and home butcher? Omg. Nightmare.

We are slaughtering a hog every week and a steer every other over the last 8 weeks to keep up with the demand and we're a small family farm that doesn't do that kind of processing all year.

Tripled the number of meat birds (chickens) we raise to fill the orders already placed.

There are zero feeders available even if you wanted them and if you aren't a farm that breeds your own livestock, you're effectively out of business.

Haven't been inside a grocery store in a month (not wearing a mask, don't really miss anything except specialty items like pistachios, citrus, coffee)

If you think the situation is dicey now, wait until Winter.

I suggested get a few large bags of solar salt.

1. Slice the meat thin.
2. Salt it with table salt, then place it in a flat Walmart plastic storage bin with an inch of solar salt under, and cover with another inch of it.
3. Wait several days.
4. Remove when dried through, and place in freezer bags.
5. Suck all the air out with a straw placed in the middle of the opening (with the ends except the straw area already sealed,) then seal the little gap of the bag where the straw is, as you quickly pull straw out.
6. Store in a cool, dry place, un-refrigerated.

Should last up to six months. Works for any meat, but pork and beef particularly well.

When you go to use it, soak in water for half an hour before cooking, so as to slightly "re-constitute" it, and rinse well.

All you guys saying no shortage, are you paying attention that all cuts and brands are there, because they're getting good at hiding it, they start to do a "spread" of what foods they do have.

I'm going to be a lot of shortages by Sunday afternoon, at least around here, Publix themselves told me having trouble getting it in. I noticed a few days ago, and got the standard line truck hasn't come in yet.

But yesterday got a guy who was willing to spill the beans, and told me having big trouble with pork and chicken, and haven't been able to get ground sirloin in days.

Also, been missing lots of Birdseye products, the peas that I wanted I guess two cases came in, but those were two cases over the area, and the guy told me that he don't know which store they went to LOL, okay, like musical chairs.
