Decades ago I worked at a Burger King, teenage summer job. One day they had ZERO patties. None of either weight.

But we had to work. All we did was answer the same questions all day long only to have every customer bitch me out. It wasn't our fault, we wanted to go home, lol.

Some people laughed and drove off. Others had a mental meltdown. Shit was funny at times.

Another thing to consider is that many farms and bakeries have specific contracts to places like resturants schools etc...

Changing over for "retail" sales is difficult for them.

Basically as long as they keep their employees working the loan is forgiven.

So it's basically a welfare check to stay open and keep the employees paid and working.

I got back from visiting 2 supermarkets in NJ....a Shoprite and a Stop N Shop....mostly back to normal....no lines to get in, everything was back except for disinfecting/cleaning stuff and rubbing alcohol....even found little bottles of hand sanitizer for $1.99.....meat of all kinds without the 2 item restriction anymore.....

Went to a Target here in PA. Everything was Empty. Looked like they were going out of business.

Toilet paper and paper towels are always in short supply. Have to be at the store at the right time (who knows when that is) to get those products.

Other products seem to come and go. Canned vegetables were really low at one store; now that store is overstocked in that area and is clogging up the aisle with displays of canned corn.

Bread had been a problem, but that seems OK now.

Pancake mix had almost disappeared and now it's back.

Remember, the farmers poured out a lot of milk ... which could be one reason for the milk shortage ... Of course, they will say it was supposed to go to restaurants, not the consumer... Why doesn't the government have in place a system that could help shift product to where it's needed?

A lot of customers using delivery apps are too lazy to enter in replacements they would be ok with, and many also do not respond to shopper’s texts. My aunt is a shopper. There is no reason for them to be “too lazy” as the other person on this thread said, when their tip is usually based on a percentage of the items shopper for.
