Any herbalists got something to knock her out. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73756012 We buy small doses of xanax sometimes off the street. That knocks her out. We dont like that or want script drugs. CBD oil is supposed to help. (Never tried it myself.) CBD oil with Melatonin. It works wonders. |

Magnesium plus Melatonin helps a lot but I need to sleep for 10 hours or I feel like I'm in slow motion for a few hours in the morning. But not all the time, just after a few days of taking it so I'm wondering of Melatonin builds up or something. |

Ya, we are looking for something natural that makes you sleep like ambien. My buddy has a script for that. Best sleep we both have had. We both have had drug use problems in the past. Clean now. Trying to stay off big pharma. Been searching awhile. Melatonin kibda works for her. Cept she has bad nightmares on it, still wakes up sometimes. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77896303 If you go the big pharma route, then you'll get some sleep, but you'll need them forever. Ambien is better than Lunesta. The problem with these drugs is that if a person snores or has sleep apnea they can be dangerous. They will put you in such a deep sleep that you might not wake up if you quit breathing when you are sleeping. That's why many doctors prescribe the (antidepressants) drugs that have sleeping side effects and which just help you fall/stay asleep such as Trazadone and Doxepin. |

Not sure I would want to use it regularly. |

There are 2 kinds of insomnia: 1. the inability to fall asleep 2. the inability to stay asleep She is both. Mainly the stay asleep one. She will fall asleep and still wake up 4 hrs later no matter what I sympathize. I've been struggling with this for the last two years, ever since going through serious stress associated with my divorce on top of going through menopause. Does she have a FitBit by any chance? If so, have her look at her oxygen saturation while sleeping. If there are large or frequent spikes, she is probably having issues with breathing at night that are waking her and then she cannot get back to sleep. Things I've tried in the past: kick pets out of bed softer mattress sour cherry juice chamomile tea diphenhydramine (Benadryl) various herbal blend capsules magnesium melatonin Trazodone (rx) Doxepin (rx) exercise later in the day do not eat after 8 or just a late night warm milk white noise cooler temps red wine (I can't take Ambien because I stop breathing at night and it is dangerous). The best I have found is the Doxepin, which is a side-use sleep aid but originally an antidepressant (but non-habit-forming). I just take 1/2 only as needed, such as when I have a lot to do at work or meetings the next day. Otherwise, the white noise, cooler temps, and exercising later in the day, and a late night warm milk work the best for me along with magnesium. Sometimes people will wake in the middle of the night if their stomachs are empty, which is why the late night milk seems to work for me. I also started to take liver health and cortisol stress supplements as I think the extreme stress I went through probably gave me some adrenal fatigue and it's always better to treat the underlying problem than just a bandage for the symptom. i.e. why I am exercising more, eating better, and taking the supplements. |

Sad that you won't go and have it checked out but instead do a bunch of things like smoking weed, taking xanax and herbal supps that will only make it worse. She needs to immediately change her diet & do a liver cleanse/detox and then go see a GI doc. |

Good to experiment with a few pieces first, because it is quite effective. Also try tea instead of the morning coffee it can make sleep hard even much later, if she likes it strong.
