Blatant statistical manipulation isn't enough to sway people who are now so self righteous and self invested of doing their religious rituals of washing hands, wearing masks....to believe they were hoodwinked would mean it was all for not and removes their ability to be cold hearted freaks yelling at non conformists like they get to do now. They gain too much by believing the lie.
