Re: Life during COVID is WONDERFUL!
Before COVID I was miserable.

I had a job working $14.75/hr and hated waking up most days. I've since been laid off (obviously) but am one of those who is making much more by NOT working.

I used to make $550-600 per week depending on my hours but since COVID began, I'm clearing just over $1000/week. My gf is in the same situation and she's also clearing just over $1000.

We are both loving life. Expenses are way down too. We wake up, have sex first thing, shower together, and then she makes the most fantastic breakfast. Afterwards, I make us a cappuccino (we splurged on a $400 machine) but it was so worth it. The rest of the day is ours. Today we plan to do some hiking since it's going to be so nice out and I'll be using my new grill to cook up some steak tonight. The gf is kind of a wine snob so she likes to splurge on really nice reds (which I'll definitely be having later as well).

I really don't understand people who say they're more stressed or are fighting with their gf/wife more than before. It makes absolutely no sense to me. These have been the best 2 months I've had in a while. I can't imagine going back to my old life and way of doing things. NOT HAPPENING!

The only thing that isn't ideal right now is not being able to travel normally but I only vacationed once or twice a year before due to work/money issues. Now I'm able to save $800-1000/month with COVID stimulus and bonus so we'll definitely be taking a nice vacation at some point this summer.

Agreed, it's been great!

Still working, but since there has been no social pressure to do anything or spend money I've been stacking $3g's per month for three months straight.

Cant see myself going back to pre March ways, eating out all the time, going to shows, and bars. Besides, Summer is here and the outdoors are free.

Healthier, happier, and stacking my chips for the future!

Covid has been a blessing for me as well.

Self employed and actually was sick for about three weeks.
Felt like hammered crap

Alot of self reflection.

No unemployment, not fat check from the government, what little I had put back I burned thru in trying to survive till this is over and they opened things back up.

Unfortunately I'm in retail and that's been the worst on us.

Now to the good part. For years I have been talking about building a website and doing online sales.

I did, and it's finally taking off. I spend weeks learning how to do it myself since I couldn't afford to pay anyone and only had myself to rely on. So I built it the way I wanted to, learned a new skill of how to build a retail spot from scratch, learned ad placement, analytics, how to position myself online.

It was alot of tough lessons, and yes I got my government one time check, but that was it. The small business loan thing was never going to happen because I was too small and too poor and all my financial stuff was mixed together.

Anyway, use your time wisely people. It doesn't have to b a negative if you keep going.

Yes I was looking at losing everything, cars, house, everything

Covid opened doors for a lot of us. I'm not exactly getting big bucks, but everyone else is "in it" now...people's attitude towards money is changing. The lockdown needs to end but the economy needs to CHANGE. I doubt it will continue to be a gravy train, though, and people are going to have to accept that now big companies are going to monopolize more.

Lucky you. Here, 3 months of emergency savings drained. 16.00 in the bank. My industry shut down. Over 2 months of waiting for unemployment to pay out. I get to call landlord in the morning and hope that the 100.00 late fee will be waived, having no idea when or if unemployment will ever arrive. Our plans of relocating at the end of this summer are now gone. Stuck, no income, no party here.

I find it a lot more relaxing, and I have more time for myself. I spend most of my day in Zoom meetings, but I like that I don't have to get up super early, I can get up at a reasonable time, do my Yoga, meditate, don't have to fight weirdos on the road as soon as I leave the driveway, no evening events after work. At the end of the day, there's no commute home. There's time for me to I actually enjoy the beautiful weather.

I feel a whole lot less stressed...most of that is probably because my parents haven't left their home since March so I'm not stressing over and worrying about them every single day.
My dad also hasn't had any doctor's appointments, and before this happened, he was going pretty much at least once a week from December on which was caused me a lot of stress.

Overall, it's just really given me a chance to breathe, and I haven't had the chance to do that in a good year. All the chaos that was going on in my life before this pretty much came to a stop.

I don't even like saying these things "out loud," because I'm afraid I'll jinx it all. :/

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1386640

Well, here's my COVID activities for the last two months:

Been great here too! I am salaried at 86K doing IT work for a school corp. (I've been there 23 years.) When we had a "stay at home order" from the governor, the schools closed and 85% of the employees stayed home but still got paid. But, there were still essential services I had to provide. The corp couldn't figure out how to be "fair". Modern school corps are obsessed with fairness. Since almost all still got their salary but didn't have to lift a finger for it, I was blessed with my $5000 a month take home pay plus another $800 for "essential" work hours. Beyond that, I didn't have to drive in, I'd eat at home, etc. Saving another $400 a month. Then, Friday, I got a $2400 check from Daddy Trump. Wife manages the house, we file jointly. Kids are all grown. Youngest is 22. Works his ass off, hands me a couple hundred dollars now and then because I feed him even though I never ask for it.

So, normally, in 8 weeks I'd take home $10,000. But, because of COVID I took home $10000 + $3200 (overtime pay) + $800 (no gas food costs) + $2400 (COVID Stimulus). So, instead of 10K I took home 16.4K.

I bought two new (to me) vehicles with cash. A new sectional with 3 recliners. I remodeled my living room with the extra time and mounted a 55in Samsung TV on the wall. Yeah, and I still have about $12K of cash (6K in the safe and 5K+ in the bank).

Life was great before COVID and now is even greater during COVID. Its been like being paid extra for a vacation. Here, go on vacation for two months and we'll pay you an extra $6,000!

Oh, did I mention I really love my job? If they'd let me I'd work overtime for nothing but they force me to take overtime if I do work.

The worst part about it is wife and I don't get to go on our "dates" because the restaurants are shut down. We particularly like Roadhouse and Longhorn. We've been married for 37 years and life just keeps getting better.

Oh, another thing that is bad about COVID is that she doesn't get to meet me at the door when I come home. For 37 years I've treated her like a queen and she meets me at the door. Now, she's almost sixty and she looks way better than any 40 year old. I guess thats what happens when you're treated like a queen, you run 12 miles a day for the last 20 years and don't take any medication.

Retirement is going to be so sweet! (Did I mention I live on 35 acres?) I paid it off in 2018. I've got quad trails and a couple creeks and a couple lakes, a shooting range (well, actually 3 of them).

I laugh all the time when people say they can't come up with $500.

At this point I better just shut up. Somebody will accuse me of lying about all this, but, its true! Life's been more than good to me. Before this COVID hoax hit it was great. Now its even better.

Well, I better get back to it.

Not gonna lie. Working from home, rural location. Enjoying each day like it's a freaking ice cream sundae.

First it was work, then lovely meal, then cozy fires, and movies.

Now it's springtime and it's gardening, improving our nice home, more awesome evening meals, and lovely cycling around our countryside.

I am a volunteer EMT, so yeah there have been a few harrowing situations and I had to deal with it and use my skills. Never easy.

But our area has had very little Covid issues, I'm more responding to routine stuff (if racing down the rural highway at 75-80 mph with a screaming preterm laboring woman is routine).

Despite having to handle the adult stress of doing my civic duty to my beloved community here though, life is VERY GOOD for us and I am so so grateful.

I still work but since most co workers are freaking out for a 0.01% chance of death flu. I have been getting overtime plus bonuses and they paid for my daycare that is my husband, no receipts needed.
