I'm missing something major. Its not remote voting its letting another representative take your representative's vote! You voted for a congressman but now that congressman has given his vote away to be cast by another congressman. Does New York now represent you? That is pretty messed up, but....why couldn't a representative in person just say "I'm going to vote the same as New York"? That is, what does voting in person add to prevent this? I'm not trying to be difficult. I'm really just trying to understand why this is such a major issue. And here is the other reason she is doing this. Usually, and we have seen this many many times in the past, if a Senator or House member is absent from the Floor, THEY CAN'T VOTE. So, if a member is sick, that is one vote lost for his party. At times, votes have been delayed just for this reason because that person's vote was needed for the bill to pass. Just recently, Rand Paul was quarantined and couldn't cast votes in the Senate. Nancy is trying to get around this. My guess is she has many Dems under quarantine right now and not wanting to "lose their vote" she has instituted "proxy" voting. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. She is using the virus to change the long held rules because she probably doesn't have the numbers now to win a vote in the House. But doesn't proxy voting, or any other change to the rules, have to be passed by the House? When did the House pass a resolution to change this rule? .
