It's called "Proportional Response" and has been taught in police academies for over 40 years. The initial response is low-key and cordial, then ramps up accordingly if the suspect makes it necessary. When police are attacked in any way, shape or manner those citizens automatically surrender their "right" to a passive response.

And I've never seen ANYONE protest when they are publicly displayed; in fact, those kids/adults alike have great big grins on their faces as they pose in front of them... and I've heard more than one adult come up to the officers nearby and excitedly ask about their job and hardware they use; they usually end by saying something like "well, I'm GLAD you're here!"

And if those "protesters" aren't looking for a confrontation, then WHY are they there in the FIRST place breaking multiple laws that will ensure one?

What I heard was that the oldest woman there was the home owner. And the other younger people were either Antif@ or wannabes who knew her and were seeking refuge in her house.

Was she aiding and abetting criminals? Do the non-residents there have the same protections as the homeowner?

During a riot, things get very chaotic for everyone. It becomes like a war zone in some ways. It's best not to be anywhere near a riot. But if you are unfortunate enough to find yourself in one, get out of it as fast as you can.

Don't take that moment to rebel against armed authorities who may be giving you an unlawful order. Some of those cops will have been attacked already and might have twitchy trigger fingers.

If you feel your rights have been violated, do what you need to do to stay safe. Document everything with video and camera evidence, and plead your case to the courts later after things have settled down some. During a riot is not the time to argue with pissed-off armed riot police or the military. They are not going to listen, and might decide that you are a threat.

While it is legal to peacefully protest, most cities require a permit to gather in large crowds.
The first laws broken were by even the peaceful protestors by not setting up a proper protest.
Then it all went downhill from there.

A proper protest is when you see the one's announced on the news like the Million man or even the k-lan follow the municipalities legal requirements!

No permit = lawbreaking citizen
No matter how good their intentions are.

It's our fault for not reaching this in schools, so we're all kind of guilty in the end.

If you're out on the streets destroying property and attacking people, you're fair game for whatever the "authorities" throw at you.

If you're out on the streets, peacefully exercising your God-given right to assemble and redress those same "authorities", then you have a right to continue unmolested.

If you're standing on your own property, watching, or even recording, the "authorities" as they march down your street, you have a right to continue unmolested.
