I moved from the US to a small town in Argentina a few years ago. This week the cafes, bars and restaurants were able to open. Some shops are open too, and unfortunately, a lot of businesses have closed for good. We don't have the tracking app here, thankfully. The police were strict the first six weeks of the quarantine. Now they barely seem to pay attention. I've never been stopped by police. Workers (gardeners, plumbers, etc.) were able to start working at private homes three weeks ago. Crime is down, no riots here, prices seem to increase every week when I go to a big market. It's not a problem because I exchange dollars. Exchange rate for dollars goes up, the prices go up, but it's about the same cost for me.

Today was one of my three days per week to go to the a large markets. It's based on the last number of your DNI (ID). The small, local shops don't bother to check the ID, which makes it easy to get things whenever I need to. Everyone I know has been buying things on Mercado Libre (like Amazon) for delivery to their house. Every morning I walk my dogs on my street with no mask and no problems. My small town experience seems a lot more mellow than what's happening in the cities. Most of the locals I talk to think the virus and quarantine is BS and they tell me they won't take the vaccine!
