I voted for Obama in 2008

Why did I do it?

Because I thought to myself..if a black man is elected President, we can move forward and never accuse the USA of being a racist country. Blacks would see that a black man was President of the USA and they would become motivated to pick themselves up. There would be a decrease in the cycle of violence. Black on Black murders would decrease. Black men would once again become part of their nuclear family, raising the children they spawned.

In other words? I went full tard and drank the Kool-Aid. Folks..never drink the Kool-Aid.

Why did I do it?

Because I thought to myself..if a black man is elected President, we can move forward and never accuse the USA of being a racist country. Blacks would see that a black man was President of the USA and they would become motivated to pick themselves up. There would be a decrease in the cycle of violence. Black on Black murders would decrease. Black men would once again become part of their nuclear family, raising the children they spawned.

He still may have been preferable to John McCain.

Scary because a hard-leftist like Obama was not necessarily way worse than a closeted liberal like John McCain would have been. Sort of like Frankenstein's monster versus Jekyll and Hyde.

In 2008, I admit I didn't know the full seedy history of McCain, although, yep, the internet was convenient enough at the time to have gotten all the info about him at my fingertips.

Doesn't take a genius to figure out that Obama inherited a mess and fixed our economy with ZERO SCANDALS and was a top 10 president. The economy was in the LONGEST ECONOMIC GROWTH STREAK EVER when the reigns were given to Trump.

so you voted McCain?

Obama did little in the realm of criminal justice reform and little to help to overall issues of systemic racism.

Why this is so, I can only conjecture but I beleive it is because Obama did not want to be perceived as a divisive president of an African american president, but as a president for all Americans.

For all the criticism he got/gets on this board, imagine how divisive it could have been if he really wanted to hurt America. He got so much flack for mentioning during one of the previous black killings, for even mentioning how he encountered racism in his daily life before his presidency.

In retreospect he left all of this for another president and generation to deal with.
