My right arm just went numb from shoulder down

nope, one night i woke up, left arm totally dead, chewed some aspirins and excersized it. sore for 2 weeks.
doctor said it is a nerve, and is still occurring everynight, but to a much lesser extent. it has been months ongoing.
i swim non stop 1 hour a day, also 35 minute walk every night.
