Huuuuuge JH fan here. However SRV was way different than Hendrix. Vaughn stayed in the realm of blues to transform it in a great way. Hendrix left blues to created great works of art. Even till his death he was was seeking to expand rock from what it was to an entirely new creation. I play guitar and when I play SRV, I have a whole different feel than when I play SRV vs JH. Vaughn just covered Hendrix, not stole. Listen to Tin Pan Alley and find other influences in there. Which is what music is all about, expanding knowledge.

Stevie was a teenager developing his own style and learning from his big brother before anyone knew who Jimi Hendrix was. I know this because I knew him, a couple of years younger than me. He was living with his aunt and uncle a few miles away. My boyfriend then played drums with he and his brother for practice.
At that time,Hendrix was playing small clubs like the Cafe Wa in NYC - before the Hendrix Experience band recorded. Hendrix was working with players from Texas - the man who became my husband (rip) was his drummer.
