Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75689891 Exactly. He was overrated it cause he’s black and was the only really cool black guy writing psychedelic bluesy rock at the time, he was propped up. Funny how a bunch of British WHITE guys, and Elvis took black southern blues and made it ten times better than it ever was. |

Vaughn stayed in the realm of blues to transform it in a great way. Hendrix left blues to created great works of art. Even till his death he was was seeking to expand rock from what it was to an entirely new creation. I play guitar and when I play SRV, I have a whole different feel than when I play SRV vs JH. Vaughn just covered Hendrix, not stole. Listen to Tin Pan Alley and find other influences in there. Which is what music is all about, expanding knowledge. |

Hendrix was working with players from Texas - the man who became my husband (rip) was his drummer. OP, no matter what you think of his talent, your premise is wrong. Moonstar |

I know this because I knew him, a couple of years younger than me. He was living with his aunt and uncle a few miles away. My boyfriend then played drums with he and his brother for practice. Long time Tele but now Les Paul. Peavy 2x12” Classic 50w combo. Dunlop Wah, Roland tuner. GT-3 when I need it which is almost never these days, love that octave pedal patch tho. SRV is a Hellcat, best at full speed, one trick but what a trick! Hendrix is a Ferrari, instant impression and takes the corners on rail. Genius gonna genius in both cases. Yinz turn it up n at! |
